How Long is Civ 3 - Game Length

Does anyone know how long the game lasts in Civ 3?
Can you play on forever researching future tech like in Civ 2 or does the game end abruptly and calculate the score...
Id prefer if it lasted for ever cos I like conquest games and to take my own time to plan and attack

please let me know

The game does 'end' at some point. I can't remember the date, I dont have any docs in front of me right now. But you should still be able to play past that point. It just won't continue to calculate your score.

The game stops counting in 2050... I think.

Does anyone wish the game would go past 2050. I wish you could set the time when the game ends. I don't like to play after 2050. What's the point?

I think it's 540 turns, to the 2015 end date.
