Got my ATI all in wonder 128 MB radeon 9200 to run it after i turned fast write on. right click on desktop, click properties, click display, advanced, then find out where it says "turn fast write on". Mine worked after I did that.

I wanted to try this out - but I can't. The option is not avaiable for me, and the right click help menu said that this option may not be available because of incompatibility between graficcard and chipset ....

Runs out of the box with no driver cleaning necessary on an ATI Radeon x850 Pro...just like all the other Pro variant card owners.

The results of this poll might be a little skewed. Most of the people who can check the "yes" option, are off happily playing the game while those of use in the "no" group sit here reconsidering our life choices.

For all who are looking for the Fast Write setting:
start the Catalyst control center
Change "view" to "advanced view"
Go to "SmartGart" => "AGP settings" => "Fast write on / off"

Doesn't work on the machine of my friend, though.
Spec:
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis
All AGP and PCI settings are ON.

If you can't get your graphics to work, please post your ATI specs here. Get them by going to start->run and typing in dxdiag to get the video specs.

I can get the graphics to run. It's the text part that is screwed up on mine. I have a Radeon 8500 All in Wonder with 128MB. It gives me "XML eror" messages but I can click through them and get the game to load. HOWEVER after that all the text in the game is in "code" format. Unreadable.

I attached a complete DXDiag log text file with details in this thread - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=3216488&postcount=1

(I guess you cannot attach it twice.)

No problems for me so far:

ATI Radeon 9600 Series, 128MB AGP
Drivers version 6.14.0010.6553 (English)
Updated DirectX to 9.0c using installer bundled with Civ4 Installer

RAdeon 9700 here. Mostly works well but I'm getting some hicups on the intro movie and during several Wonders movies (but not all). My roommate who has a n NVIDIA had the same hicups on the intro movie. Not sure about Wonder movies (he kept getting beat to his Wonders :p ).

Starts, blue screen on videos, no menus. Crashes a few seconds into the game, with no menus showing up there either. Terrain and models look fine though.

ATI x800 pro
WinXP SP2
1gig dual-channel DDR
P4 3.2

Runs fine on my ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis.
Make sure you have all the newest available drivers for not only your video card but also for you chipset, CD/DVD drive. (had problems with simcity4 because of this)
Then make sure your not running ZoneAlarm as there are known issues with this software. Also try turning off your virus software while installing the game.

My card is a ATI 9200. Other discs work in both drives. I cannot change the setting of fast write. It is shaded out and I cannot change that. Is there somewhere else to change this? Will that even help?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mobility 7500 (32mb, T&L)
Game runs, but I have black map/cheshire cat glitch.

I have a Radeon 9200 (Catalyst version 05.3, 2D version 6.14.10.6517; 128 ram) running on a p4 1.66 512 meg ram computer. I can't even install the program, it begins and tells me the device is incompatible.

Any advice?
