to rush someone? I just played two games that both ended quickly. Fredrick in both, large terra map, 15 opponents. On the first I started with 3 seafood and horses and mao about 15 tiles away. He was in my way cus I was on a penisula of sorts so I whipped 7 chariots and attacked him. All of them died to 2 protective archers and a chariot in his capital and he was on a grassland tile. Yuck. Did I bring too few or is chariot rush against a protective civ a no-no?
Second try, fredrick again, pericles was to my south and too close for comfort. So I built a second city by some choice gold nearby, and between my two cities built/whipped 10 axes and a spear. Found sparta with walls, 3 hoplites (greek axemen the name escapes me), a chariot and 2 archers. Seemed like a little much for a peaceful guy like pericles and my army was smashed against his walls. My 11 guys left a couple of his alive. Maybe I was just unlucky but again this was like 1000bc. How many axes do you need to bring?
What's usually enough? 10? 15?
