So, how many foreign countries have you been to?

As an American, I've only been to the two that share a land border with the US, Mexico and Canada.

I think the answer is 28. In Europe it is easy to go through a few in a short drive.

9 I think. England France Spain Italy; Tanzania; China; Mexico, Canada, Bahamas. If the Vatican counts, add one more. Significant time in each (typically weeks).

I have spent hours or days in literally dozens of countries at some point in my life, but weeks or more in far fewer.

That said, South America and Antarctica are the only continents I've never visited at all.

Three

Guam is a place I've been to that I don't count as a country :O

and right above the Mariana Trench.
So far of everything yet so full of clichés.

8, or 12 if you include merely hanging out in airports.

Not counting embassies and native reservations, 5.
Mexico, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania.

EDIT: Oh, and illegally into Canada briefly when I was in the Minnesota Boundary Waters, but that doesn't count.

If we get to count Indian tribal land as foreign countries, then I can add at least 8 more....

16 I think... including USA, Mexico, Canada, a bunch of Caribbean Islands, a few Native American reservations, Italy and Vatican City. I've only been to North America and Europe, but you can really rack up the different country visits on a Caribbean cruise.

0. Growing up going to another country and a gold plated rocket ship were much the same thing.

Then we bought a house. No help from parents etc. Saved a 20% deposit paid off in 10 years. Mortgage was paid for in 2020 in January. Something happened that year. Was planning an Eastern European trip but something else happened 2022 in that region.

Kinda expensive to start with and now the crap dollar makes it ludicrous levels. Flat whites here is $4-$6.50. UK/USA its 13 roughly. Apply that concept to everything.

Now house needs some work. Sigh.

China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada, America, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Monaco, Britain... in roughly chronological order. That's all the places I've spent one non-airport night in, 15 countries.

Add transit stops and day trips... Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, Qatar, Vatican City. Does the UN headquarters count too? That's international territory...

Most of the travelling done at an age when I didn't appreciate it as much as I should. I enjoy travelling a lot more now :D

Spain in various vacation with family as a kid/teen...it's right next door to us, so hard to miss for any Portuguese:lol:
First time in my 41year old life on a plane this year went to Milan and then spent the rest of the Vacation in Visp Switzerland at my sisters apartment.:)

Italy, Spain, Japan, USA, Switzerland and Dubai.
Though Dubai doesn't count as it was only an airport stopover.
