[BNW] How to create a new religion?

Hello! I am trying to create a new civ 5 mod that adds a new religion to the game. Only problem is, I have no idea how to do it. Could someone help me? Please note that I am not using modbuddy since my version of the game does not support it.

There's a mod in the Steam workshop called Historical Religions that adds many religions (about 40 or so), so you could download that mod and see how they do it.
