How to install downloads?

I've downloaded some CIV4 items and want to use them in CIV4, but where and how do I install them?

For example I've downloaded "roadprimitive" and after I unzip it I have "roadprimitive.dds" Where do I move the dds file so I can use it in CIV4?

Another example: I downloaded "cannon" and would also like to use it. After unziping it I have lots of .dds, .kfm, .nif, .kf and some .png files. Where do I put all these files so I can use them in CIV4?

I've browsed and searched most of the forums and I can't seem to find any info on where I should put the files so I can use them when I play CIV4.

Can anyone help?

Best to ask in the thread that you downloaded the items from. Usually there's a readme.txt file with the download, and/or instructions on how to install them in the first post in the thread. Please refer future questions to the thread dedicated to the download.
