i tried rushing with darius immortals. i only made like 5 so i could rush as fast as possible. i took the first city wasting no men it was only guarded by 2 archers. then i tried taking the capital city but i couldnt do it because of a single spearman. how are you supposed to rush with persia? do i need to make more immortals or should i make an axeman/immortal combination. if the latter how am i supposed to do it fast enough since axemen move so slow?

Make more Immortals! Send 1 or 2 to pillage copper so they can't build any more spears. Give a couple the flankimng promo so they have a chance to retreat, they will damage the spear and you can finish them off with combat Immortals.

Wow. Immortals can't capture cities? I managed to rush Rome with 8/9 Immortals - capture Rome and Neapolis, even when Rome had Iron hooked up for 5-10 turns BEFORE my rush.

Use the power graph - estimate when is the best time to rush. Also, if you can, look out for archers - or in Persias case, spearmen. Whipping 2/3 cities can produce 5-15 Immortals (possibly more) which are MORE than adequate for rushing a 3 city civ.

Also, ensure you keep rushing Immortals when the battle is underway. The 2/3 you leave to heal in the first capture can be replaced by more who were whipped after the declaration of war.

Check Sisiutils ALC Persia game for Immortal use.

WIthout sounding harsh, DaveMcW is completely wrong when he says Immortals can't capture capitals - ESPECIALLY at Noble level.

2 at least I'd say. Normally your capital and the one you built to grab the horses. You'll get another city soon enough after that.

EDIT: Once you hook up the horses and have that city linked by road to the capital, use the worker to road his way to enemy cities as well. You should be able to capture a worker from the AI as well.

Avoid cities on hills and ones with 40% culture or more. Protective civs aren't good either. Unlike Egypts war chariots, Immortals aren't immune to first strike.

I did hear early rushes aren't as easy on BtS though.

I've done a rush with 2 before - that was with Willem Van Oranje (Dutch) within 8 squares though.

Provided your cities have good access to food, i'd say 3 - although, it is difficult to say without knowing how fast you build 3 cities AND how close your nearest foe is.

Late rushes are possible, as demonstrated in this Persia game by Sisiutil:

Be aware an immortal rush on a capital is likely to stall say if:

The capital has Protective trait Archers,
The capital has a religion founded,
The capital is on a hill with 2+ defenders.

I just played my earliest standard map conquest win ever on prince with an immortal rush. I was only able to eliminate one of my 6 rivals with the rush, (standard map, pangea), but I basically just kept a stack moving from empire to empire, taking and razing the less defended cities and leaving the capitals. I wasn't able to get one of those incredible BC wins, but I did put myself at such an advantage with respect to the other civs that no one was even close to me for the rest of the game.
