This has to be the most insane UHV in the game…

Has anyone beaten this on 1.18?!

The closest I got was a decent 4.3% in 730AD, only to get completely obliterated by Arabia who declared war on me with their giant Ghazi stacks, and strong Persian vassal.

In that campaign, I had some success on Persia by taking advantage of Arabia’s war with them. I secured some Indian cities, and I took the northern end of China, by declaring for one poorly defended city, then grabbing their cities that were stolen by Xiongnu barbs.

But, the main problem seems to be that the Oghuz, along with any horse archers you recruit, hit the enemy cities like mouldy paper…

The damage they inflict on a 100% defended city with crossbows is like a warrior vs tank situation…

All other starts have involved insanely well-defended Persia with several crossbows per city, and often China collapses in the early game and hence the north isn’t conquerable.

So… How do you do it…?

I haven’t yet tried the Turks on the big map. But the way I conquered Persia as the Turks on the small map was adopting Citizenship, turning :gold: to 100%, buying some catapults, and hitting their defenses and collateral damage. Citizenship also helps building Markets in all of your Silk Road cities.

I got it in 1.17 too. I could say that Turks are among the most difficult tier, heavily relied on starting situations. Your enemies must be well-developed but worse-defended. RNG rolling is also needed in many cases.

Only problem with that seems to be that the Turkic starting economy seems to be pretty awful now, don't know if it was always this way. I'm earning 25 per turn at 0% science, meaning gold will only get me a catapult every 10 turns, not to mention that at some point I'll want to increase the culture slider to get to the 8% land goal (which is for some reason higher than the former 7% in 1.17). I'll also want to research politics, as elective will drastically increase my economy and improve my palace build speed. I might want feudalism eventually too, since lancers would be a huge upgrade over the Oghuz.

Tried the strategy, but unfortunately it sends me plumetting into bankruptcy, and sadly, the Persian crossbowmen reduce the catapult's damage to absolutely negligible levels.

This UHV is definitely incredibly difficult, no doubt. Especially on normal speed. It was probably more doable on 1.17, but 1.18 has spiked it up to incredible levels.

It's nonetheless possible, I'm sure. It just requires an incredible mix of luck and skill. I wonder if the 600AD start is more feasible, so you just have to deal with independent crossbowmen, rather than 100% defended Persian cities stacked with crossbows as the Arab spawn has pushed all the crossbows from Babylon to Egypt into Persia.

Turkish UHV is certainly one of the most difficult!

it is the most difficult UHV I believe. Back in 1.16 nobody claimed to beat the 600AD UHV after 3 years of its addition.

Personally I would wait until the 1.18 is more polished before trying the current 600AD UHV again. Maybe the 3000AD UHV is achievable with prebuilding and switching civs?

600AD start, Epic/Monarch
well, control 7% is too much, you dont have time and will get huge OE
I was able pillage 20 improvements, but getting 7% of land - is insane. I think we need get back 6%. On screenshot i'm controlling 5,5% of land and get 33/63 OE (-8 OE)
Maybe on Marathon it can be done...?
UPD. It can be done on Marathon/Monarch. But i'm still thinking 6% is more preferable for UHV. Not so luck based
Trade Nobility with China for Philosophy, OB with them and send Scout contact Khmer, Malay... - switch to Syncretism and Citizenship. Bait 2 x-bow from Herat with archers and take it w|o losing single Oghuz, then go to India and capture some workers and 3-4 city (Deli is must), sitch to Manorialism. Improve Kashgar first (food) to build settlers here, then Silk Route resources. Samarkand build some Oghuz. Then game can be different. Depending how Arabia doing with Persia. You can declare war to Malay, and start capture HA, or go war with Arabia. In my game nether) I have send Oghuz to Arabia for pillaging and took Khazare Khanate (former Itil) and build some more Oghuz for war with Arabia. In my game Arabia has failed take single city in Persia and was at war with Byzantine, so i had some time. Near 1 UHV deadline Arabia collapsed to Damask and became my vassal, so i was able take barbarian Kuds and got 7%
UPD2. althought i had 20 SR resources, i didn't got 14 city with it in in time, maybe coz after i got 12 of them - i started improve other titles and stoped generate more SR resources at some time.
TIP. Yarghol with SR can run up to 6 specialist. Considering you most time will run with 20-30% of science or culture - and after you take Deli - you can get GE fast here and build Shwedagon Paye and pump great ppl
