Brazil's Carnival is both an excellent way to manage happiness in a big empire, and a way to generate tourism that's affected by your number of cities much less than generating great people. This theoretically makes them pretty great at going wide, but I've had fairly little luck with the strategy in King difficulty, and I can't tell if it's an issue of Brazil not being effective in wide gameplay, or simply that my particular strategy for achieving it doesn't work well. I usually open Authority, go to Artistry, then the plan is to go into Imperialism, but I usually stagnate and eventually get squashed by an opponent with five to seven techs more than me around the time I enter the Industrial era.
If you've ever played Brazil wide before, what generally strategy have you used?
