    I will try playing Egypt.

Hopefully there is some kind of map script with like historic starting locations which will place me near some flood plains (nile river). Then I will go for tech and the wheel fast for movement 5 war chariots. Doing some scouting, hutting and maybe Barb killing while going for Aristocracy social policy.

+53% on wonder production together with UA.

Hopefuly wonders give me culture, GPs and bonus to exploit specialists in late games (like bonus to science for each one for porcelain tower or free specialists). Freedom policiy tree to go for later and also secularism in rationalism tree.

How are you going to really learn the city-state system using a civ that lends itself to a very specific way of dealing with the system?

My first game will be with Babylon and I'll stream it on-line for those who even don't have strong enough PC to play Civ V.
    Level - Prince or Monarch

Maybe before I'll complete tutorial... I don't know yet.

That's the way to go. The best civ tutorial is to just jump in and play it.

Beside, I hear that Jon Shafer has vetoed any tutorial in Civ 5, but don't quote me on that, I just remember from one of his interviews he said something like: "I hate tutorials".

The problem is that JS doesn't impress me much and I like tutorials. :)

My first game will be Persia and I'll try a balanced approach: A bit of conquering, a bit of culture, a couple of wonders and I'l try a space race victory with al techs researched.

My second game will be OCC cultural with Azetcs for more fun

I found Persia the most strategically difficult with their golden age timings. I'll play them later.

My first game will be standard speed and map and a fairly high difficulty setting. I expect to go down in a blaze of glory before gunpowder.

Then a moderate difficulty huge map, marathon speed. It'll be a game that will last for months.

My first game will be with India + pace, size and level set to standard. I aim space with a small Indian empire. Regarding Social Policies, I'll go for Tradition because I have a small empire, Patronage to secure good diplo with CS, Rationalism for science late-game, and another one if I have enough culture to afford it (don't know yet which one) .

Default game, Egyptians (or possibly Aztecs), standard map, GO!

Explore or all the new features, take it pretty easy, peaceful game to get the hang of it.

Prolly just going with any map available and play as Japan against a couple of AI's and learn how things work through that, might consider playing on a continents style map since I like the idea of colonising smaller islands. Old Settlers 2 brain ghosts there suppose hehe.

Greece, marathon, large map, max civs, max city states, random map type, raging barbarians, Emperor. I settle, explore, beeline to BW to get the Hoplites, click Freedom and go for a rapid expansion to fill up the land around me with a quick 4-5 cities. I'll try getting Companion cavalry quickly, then go around killing barbarians to gain influence with city states. Hopefully with a GG I got from the Honor tree. Around now I should have a military lead with my two UU's and GG helping them out. And have a few city states on my side.

Wonders I'll probably ignore early on because I'll not unlock the Tradition tree for +33% wonder production, instead going for Freedom and Honor.

And I'll try roleplay as a benevolent ruler who doesn't wage war without a Casus Belli. I'm not sure how long I can stick with that however.

Map size: large, maybe standard (i can't stand small maps, almost always play on huge, but i shall take it easy on my first game).

Game Speed: Standard (I'll try it the way it's meant to be played first but then ill probably start playing on marathon.)

Civ: Random (I really don't want to have to stress over waht to play as so ill go random)

    --

Of course the first bit of civ v ill get to play will be the demo aso i may have to adapt to any limitations it has.

The Barbarians (ie: everyone that isnt Rome) will be crushed under my mighty legions! :p

Actually I have a sort of tradition of playing as Rome first - but after that i'll probably go back to randoming.

That's going to be a big challenge - France's bonus is per city.

I"ll start with the Romans (always do).

Capital will be building every single building no matter what.
Second city will be for military units.
Then I'll conquer the rest of my cities and try to cruise to a space victory.

    Hey, first game, yeah :)
I will play Rome on a standard size continents map, epic speed, even difficulty setting (4th).

I believe that on a standard size map epic speed will feel comfortably slow enough to meet the game...

I will play slow, taking my time with the turns, enjoying the experience...
reading civpedia a lot, exlporing UI and all stuff :D

(this will take probably all my weekend 24-25-26th of Sept...)

That's rather commendable of you. There will be many people that will appreciate that. :)

I will try Siam first. Probably just choose random world settings. Maximum city states of course.

I'll befriend city states and try for a diplomatic victory.

Should be a good challenge for the first game. :p

Continents map, all options on standard or random. My intention: take the first starting location, even if it is crappy, live with the random leader, even if it is the last one I would have dreamed of. Try to beat the game with the minimum amount of reloading.

Enjoy the rich new combat system and test what the AI is capable of. Later I look forward to some interesting multiplayer action - really tough opponents - so try to learn as much as possible without drawing hasty conclusions.

After the first few games, lean back and reflect if Civ5 is the perfect antithesis to Starcraft2 I hope to find.
