Hi. From the comments I've seen on the forum, it seems there are quite a few players that don't build caravansaries and custom houses except in their capital/holy city and perhaps if they go the Industry.

(How) Would you buff caravansaries and custom houses so that you'd be more inclined to build them in your other cities, even if you don't go the Industry route?

I've been thinking that maybe one of the caravansary/custom house could get the benefit of "All your external trade routes, from any city, gain +2 gold" (or sth like that), and the other could get "Internal trade routes to/from this city increase in yields by 20%" (or sth like that).

    Thanks for your replies.

Why do you want to buff everything. Because of it, you still get fusiliers running around in 1550. Because of buffing everything, window opportunity of UU is very short.

I'm of the opinion that these buildings don't need any changes.

...But if I were to buff them I'd make them do something like increase the movement speed of trade units or something.

I would give the Customs House another Merchant. There are only 5 Merchant slots for the avg Civ: 1 Market, 1 Customs House, 1 Bank, and 2 Stock Exchange. That is less than each Cultural Specialist (3 Guilds with 2 each).

Reduce the time needed to complete a trade route from that city. A small but practical buff making you more flexible. Send a little food, then a little production, then international. Both buildings could reduce it for like 10%.

I think there is enough buffs to everything already, this leads to inflation of yields. Building should not be equal in terms of usefulness

Agreed, these buildings are fine, esp. in light of the recent version.
