Modern Earth Modder
I am currently playing the hub map quite regularly. I use quick start and build cities all over my peninsula with barracks and raise my capital city to max pop point. I then build a few settlers and make one a city on the end of my entrance to the land corridor.
I then feed this city (which I name "Fortress") with units produced in the other cities. This city is what the AI seems to attack all the time so I make it as strong as possible, barracks, walls, castle, etc. and most of my units.
The enemy attacks repeatedly and my units defends. I end up with 4-5 generals in the city before I even reach the medieval stage and some even end up with max promotions later in the game, due to them being attacked first and them getting the experience.
I currently have one general who has only one promotion left - "3x Medic". I am looking at pulling him out soon so the other generals can get some promotions. However, I feel I should have done this better and balanced out my experience (i.e. retreating the more experienced general and letting another one accumulate experience). i.e. working on City Defense / Combat Strength and First Strike promotions and then handed over the defense to another one so he can also accumulate. A lot of the promotions the first General earned would probably not be used, e.g. water attack, hill attack, etc.
