Huge defensive bonus?

Hey,

this day i tried out conquests and when i just started a game as the mayans and wanted to attack my neighbours the aztecs i sent out some javelin warriors (2.2.1) . he had some spearmen (1.2.1). I surrounded a spearman+settler with 3 javelin warriors and attacked him. what happened? all my 3 warriors got killed. btw, he stood on mountains and I was on plain land.
what happened to the military in conquests ?

Mountains have a huge defence bonus, they always did.

Mountains give a 100% defence bonus and always have - you were actually attacking a defence 4 unit with attack 2. You must have given the spearman a least one promotion along the way also

Avoid attacking units with same defense as your attackers on mountains. If a tank can loose to a spearman, the Javelin Throwers most likely will too. This happens rarely though.

WEll, u ever tried defeating a single Infantery with cavalry in a mountain tile with a fortress

they ran outa cavalry to fight

so defence is little overpowered sumtimes..

Not overpowers, the flow goes back and forth in the game...

Just because someone thinks they ought to win doesn't MEAN they ought to win.
