This is a Map I'm currently working on which is based on the Eckert Iv projection. The map is 134x89 hexes, and preserves area across the globe other than the Atlantic and Pacific oceans which I squished to allow larger continents. I also cut off the map just south of the tip of south america. I am currently finishing up mountains and hills, and then rivers and forests. I would like help with placing resources, and would like to stick to geographic accuracy while encouraging intercontinental trade between nations.
    Thanks!

    Just a little saying...

    1) It depends if you want Civs from an approximatively given epoch or not

    2) By example a 500BC civ set would gives :

    Europa (6):
    -Celts
    -Roman
    -Danemark (in scandinavia)
    -Germany (for ancient goths)
    -Greece
    -Hun (Scythian location)

    Africa (5):
    -Carthage
    -Egypt
    -Songhaï (for counterbalancing Carthage)
    -Ethiopia (Abysinia)
    -Zulus(filling empty place)

    Middle-East (3):
    -Babylon
    -Arabia (Sabean place)
    -Persia

    Asia (5):
    -India
    -China
    -Indonesia (filling)
    -Japan
    -Mongol (Xiong Nu)

    America (3):
    -Maya
    -Inca (pre-)
    -Shoshone

For empty places, city-states are useful for representing minor civs of this epoch...

    3) In fine, planning ressources should be easy...
Discovered recently that well placed ones help both Human and AI...

I hope to have given to you some ideas...

    Great map :goodjob:

Update: I've finished hills and mountains now,and placed forests according to original cover before humans started chopping. next i have to do rivers and then resources. Concerning resources, i am going to place them in their historic locations (meaning no horses in america) and strategic resources will be placed according to real-world reserves/production per country (Saudi Arabia will have the most oil, China the most iron, Canada the most uranium ect.). I hope to have the map done by the end of the week.
current state of map is below

    Nice progress !

I like this map, no too small no too big...

What are your plans for the included civs ?
A given epoch or not for the TSL E?

    Thank you!
I chose this size so it can be played on most computers. i'm thinking of doing a giant map at some point in the future too. I'm not sure which civilizations to choose yet, and I think I'll do that last.
I'm wondering how many total global oil resources are good for 22 civs.
    Currently adding luxury resources

Why don't you set resources to scatter?

version 1 of the map is below
To play place the extract the zip file to documents/mygames/civ5/maps
go to setup game, choose additional maps choose the map then click load scenario.
    Civs
    England
    France
    Spain
    Germany
    Poland
    Rome
    Byzantium
    Sweden
    Russia
    Persia
    Arabia
    Egypt
    Morocco
    Songhai
    Ethiopia
    Zulu
    India
    China
    Mongolia
    Japan
    Siam
    Indonesia
City states are in the Old world only, so that European nations can expand later in the wide open new world.
I also included a blank version of the map for anyone who wants to add custom civs.
I will update the map periodically based on feedback.
    Enjoy!

i realized that the zip file needs to go to documents/mygames/civ5/maps. then you should not have to load a mod. It will be under additional maps, then you click load scenario

Can anyone tell me how I would be able to enable advanced options in the map file, so players can choose options?

    Great !

Just one thing, one of twenty civs is labeled "Team 22" which prevent Barbarians to be in game...

A question : if Madrid, Berlin and Paris haven't an access to sea/ocean, how these civs could expand to Americas ?

Edit : just abandoned game because AIs settle new cities like crazy with no barbarians to contain them...

Will wait a new version before replaying Eckert IV Earth...

make sure you overwrite the old files. The maps included are 20 civ earth and a blank version. europe can still embark settlers with optics. I will include a version with less european civs soon.
