You all complain like anyone owes you anything. Its a game its for leisure, I am not thrilled with it at the moment but maybe that's because I have over thousands of hour of Civ IV under my belt yes its different, that's the point its a different game. No one owes you anything. You don't like it dont buy it or play it. But I know what I'll be doing and that is trying to get use to it. Stop hating everybody. This forum has become a sad story these last few days. You all disgust me. Especially the new people complaining, just stop already. You do all know there are REAL problems in the world not just video games. Sorry for the rant but I been on this forum for 5 plus years and this childish whining needs to end. Opinions are fine but give the damn game a chance. Peace

To be fair it is a consumers right to complain about something they paid for. I love the game - no complaints yet apart from pushing my spare PC a little overhard for a PC that can eat up Mass effect 2 maxed - but if people want to complain, let them. They'll either tire of trolling, fall in love with the game or move on.

You must be new to the Internet. Part of the reason why it's such a huge success is because it lets people whine and complain in anonimity. Trying to get an anonimous crowd to behave like decent human beings toward each other is like trying to herd cats.

I got my 15 hours under my belt in 2 days. I'm happy. But I was appalled when I see all this negative banter. People are never happy, and I'm not even sold on the game yet but I'll give it a shot. I love this forum. It has been helpful for years for me and many but these posts bashing and defending including my own post are getting ridiculous. Just let it be.

Well everyone seems all fine and dandy about complaining. So. I'm going to state my mind. Also I bought a $2000 Asus G73 specifically for Civ and I'm still not complaining even though I'm not sold on it 100%. My main gripe is that people will complain about nonsense which is not viable compared to real problems in the world.

You can never please everyone, but unfortunately the amount of negativity voiced by the population do reflect upon the true state of the product.
A gaming example:
In COD4's forums negative opinions were the minority.

As you can easily use laptop for other various purposes, or simply to play other better games.
This is very weak argument.
Taking your logic, we should all be using our spare time working in charity and hospitals, because playing a video game such as CIV 5 is complete nonsense when "compared to the real problems in the world".
People don't like change, that's what it comes down too. But in my eyes change is growth. Mark my words by mid Oct when all the quirks are fixed people will be eating their word. I have a ton of Grad work lately and will try to get in as much playing as possible, but I know things will get better.
But it's also a thing of 'something you love so bad (civilization)' it takes some time to not love anymore, maybe you are just in a state of denial

you might have a point. But I for one am a student going for teaching so I will help people specifically children in life most likely in the inner NYC area. So I enjoy helping people. You truly think its a good thing to complain about a game? People's priorities are shot. I'm sorry.

I would disagree as what you said is a paradox in itself.
If people don't like change, they wouldn't be looking forward for a sequel and anticipating it for years, they would simply stick with the original game because of their disapprovals of change.
Change by itself is perfectly fine, but the extent and the content of that change is the sensitive issue.

They made just small changes, just little improvements, when something is good, you just should make small changes and stick with the basis.
I'm not sure I see this with CIV 5..

Tip: Don't let other people's problems become your problems. If people hate the game and want to tell everyone, let them. Arguing with them or telling them to shut up makes it your problem too.

When the release of a game is basically the beta release (as has been the case a fair few times with Firaxis games), one has to expect a lot of complaints from people on the forum.
