Hy Hydromancerx,

You are more than a codder, you are a "idea box", excellent man.:goodjob:

Can i use right now the attached files ?

Yes and no. The Misc Mod should work. However the Cheaper Domestic Animals mod needs so editing on Afforess's end by taking out the old version out of his folder and then removing it from his MLF list. In addition the Misc Mod MLF file is not updated to recognize the new Domestic Animal mod.

In short if you want to try out the Misc Mod early then it should work. But I advise against trying to put in the Domestic Animal mod. Better just to wait until Afforess updates AND with it.

I have noticed recently when people have posted the mods they play none of them list any of my mods. Is there even anyone besides myself that plays with my mods? Also is it because its unchecked during installation that you don't install them?

In short does anyone play with any of the following mods? If so which one(s)?

- Water Mod
- Misc Mod
- Transportation Mod
- Health Mod

I play with water mod. Other's i didn't try out yet. Overall i should say i try not to add too many mods which add buildings in my latest AND installations as they just give +++ stackable bonuses to everything thus making game inbalanced in my opinion due to following reasons: 1) AI doesn't fully utilize it; 2) too many buildings make other buildings of same type (and according technologies) undervalued; 3) too many buildings make gap between leading civ and ones falling behind even greater.

All those factors together imho severely break game balance, at least that's what i observed having played several games AND 1.64 with all mods turned on (domesticated animals, sports, zoo, farming etc. etc.)

I'm all for a quiet building game, but AND with all the options is just WAY too many buildings!

I don't use any of them. As I stated many times, I welcome very much game improvements and features, but I'm not installing any mods that simply add more buildings to the game. Don't feel bad personally :) I don't install weather, sports, education and any other mods included in AND either :p

Seriously, this is not the path I would like to see AND going. But, as my experience on this forum shows, I'm a minority, so you don't need to worry overmuch. I'm sure there are hundreds or thousands of players who used your work, which I admire anyway :)

On more thing: people already have problems with slow turns. Maybe they are afraid that more content would slow it even more?

What contents will be included in Military mod? I'm looking forward it :D

At the moment a "Fletcher" to give archers a bonus with archery tech since the archery range comes so late (feudalism). I am thinking of making the archery range replace the "Fletcher" too.

I have to plan it out some more before I make a post about it.

@szemek77

Personally I make the mods because its what I want to see and have in my game. I would be just as happy making it for myself and not sharing. However if people want it (which it sounds like you don't but others might) then I will keep on sharing rather than keeping it for my own personal use.

In short I appreciate all feedback.

actually weather differs from all others so it changes game in certain way - first, it adds techs boosting tiles and trade routes (and there are not that many such techs in game), secondly its national wonder gives very important +1 movement promotion to troops (only thing i could not comprehend was that promotion was added backwards to all existing troops).

Good thing I outsourced XML lifting to Hydro then, eh? ;)

Good thing I offer choices, eh?

@Hydro, great work, as usual. :p

I like your mods. However I am to busy modding to play much. I am also getting the feeling that there is to much to build in to little time even on snail. It all goes pear shaped about the time Guilds appear. Not that that is stopping me having new buildings in the Subdue Animals mod but most of them are instant build by animals anyway.

I suspect you are just not looking in the right places. Go into the bug reports thread were people are posting their A New Dawn.log and look at them. It's pretty easy to spot that 4/5 installs are custom, and at least 1/2 of them have your mods. It's pretty interesting to see what people use and don't use.

Just remember what this guy said, "The best [mod/modcomp] releases are things you did for yourself, as then you are less upset if it appears that nobody else is using it at all. " Xienwolf (responding to a potential modder in SDK/Python forum):)

I like some of those ideas and those icons are great! :)

I hate all the mods that add buildings in exchange for extra maintenance. Some buildings add things like +1 health +1 hapiness for +20% maintenance and I find it really hard to tell in what possible situation could that be advantageous to build. The extra pop surely isn't going to compensate the extra money you have to pay. While I do find it an interesting concept the idea of the extra maintenance as a way to bring back civ1&2 building maintenance, in civ4 I feel it is unpractical because to survive you will need to have the largest possible empire for which you can handle maintenance, which will force you to avoid +maintenance buildings like the plague. Either make it a bit more symbolic, like <5% maintenance or make it more powerful : +20% maintenance buying +4 health or +4happiness, making it a good choice for small civs with no guilds/corporations that pay less maintenance and want to go for big cities instead of big territory. Even then it will be a niche application at best. Another possible solution would be to add like +3 or +4 gold generated to every such building to offset the maintenance, which would mean building them in underdeveloped cities (without banks and markets and infrastructure) expensive, but still overall positive if your city is well developed.

EDIT: Or better yet and more simple, put a standard -1 or -2 or -3 gold on the building, so that it has flat maintenance costs.
