what are you a hypocrite about? I'll go first

I consider myself a Marxist, and an athiest-leaning agnostic, but I absolutely love Xmas.

More confused than happy, I guess.

Anyways, my thing is that I am torn between using proper English, and recognizing that no such thing actually exists. Thus I will correct others' grammar and spelling, but then turn around and use words in non-standard forms to prove a point. It's all very confusing.

OK then I own shell oil and I'm a priest. Happy?

That depends on the denomination you're in. Few protestant denominations require asceticism as required for savior or consider it a virtue, due to sola fide. Heck, plenty of them focus on the opposite, such as the protestant work ethic. In, for example, Catholicism, a priest is meant to hold a higher standard of life than the laity; though monetary wealth is still considered a matter of giving up for perfection rather than a requirement. A better example of hypocrisy would be a catholic priest in the military, or the classic sexually offending priests.

Bill: I meant priest in ref to the fact that I'm agnostic, its a joke

Actually, it wouldn't be hypocritical for a Catholic priest in the military I think just because they aren't pacifists either. And there have been, historically, a lot of Catholic priests in the military.

If you are so big on spelling and grammar Eran how come you haven't pointed out the incorrect spelling of hypocrisy?

It's a mistake I make all the time. I'm pretty convinced the English language has it wrong, not us.

Yes, a hypocracy would be a system of government by the "not enoughs" I expect.

Not pacifists, yes, but just war theory is an incredibly significant part of Catholicism; besides, historically speaking pacifism was very common before Just War was developed. Besides, all I can find on catholic priests *in* the military are priests used for services or aid, rather than priests being soldiers...

Besides, they're different jobs. :p

Christmas has long since ceased to be an exclusively or even primarily religious holiday. So that doesn't count.

The hypocritical part is that he's a Marxist that loves a capitalist holiday (at least in its modern meaning)

Eh, it's not as inherently hilarious as a Che shirt!
