I was trying not to play Civ. I was minding my own business when a show about Atlantis came on and they started talking about ancient civilizations and technologies... agriculture... etc.

I couldn't help it. I fired up a BTS Custom game with large islands... huge map... noble (yeah, I'm a wimp).

I actually started about six games before I felt like I had a decent start with Hayuna. Sliders at 100% and still raking in 80 gp/turn. I've never been that financially secure before. I blame it on reading posts here about hybrid economies and all that. Thank you!

The bottom line is that I didn't have the clock on inside the game, and I kind of lost track of time. I 1MT'd it until 3:30 a.m.

Like I said... I blame PBS.

The good news is that I'm leading in tech. and points.

 No such thing as "not playing Civ". Just seeing the threads make me want to start up a game immediately.

Add History Channel to the list. They traced the Statue of Zeus, Mausoleum of Maussollos, and the Temple of Artemis all during the same episode. I barely made it to the end of the show before racing away to kickoff a brand new game.

It happens. For me, though, even a book or a museum visit can inspire a game. Just after reading some Fritz Stern on banking and the birth of the German Empire, I booted up a game as Bismarck with mostly European opponents. :)
