No, this is not some sort of bad joke. I wake up one day, and poof, no connection. I figure it's just some wiring problem so I check, and everything's fine. I just leave it for a while.

But now, two days later, it's still not connected. I have a cable modem and the only thing that responds when I ping it is my IP address. When I try to use the automated repair feature of windows, it gives me an error message saying "unable to flush the ARP cache". I have no idea what that means. (Also, when I use the command prompt thing, instead of just the usual "C:" to start the line, I get "C:Documents and Settings/Me")

I'm not sure what information would be necessary here, so I'll leave it at that.

Problem fixed. A simple reboot of the networkerthing solved it.

Router?

Check for a firmware update just in case. Few months ago mine was giving me absolute hell until I updated it.

Sometimes they do just need the power cycled though.

This happens to me all the time with my cable modem.

Anyway if it happens again this is what i do-

I go to control panel and network connections and disable the connection then renew it.

I dont know why this works but it almost always works for me.
