I can't open the official mods/scenarios

Tried this in Bug-section but I guess nobody reads that...

So anyway, I can't seem to be able to load the official BtS content. I pick any mod or scenario from the "Beyond the Sword Content" menu, and after that the game just displays the spinning globe for 1-2 minutes and after that I crash to desktop with no message or error. I suppose that I can't get any 3rd party scenarios or mods working either, if I can't even load the official ones...

Running the latest version of Civ4 (1.72 I think) and BtS (3.13) on Windows Vista SP1.

Anyone have ANY idea what is going on? Even a shooting-in-the-dark kind of ballpark level hunch?

Are you sure it's not just restarting? The game must restart to load mods.

There may have been a problem in the installation and the mods/scenarios were not properly installed (you can try reinstalling the game). Another possibility is that your computer is simply too slow to handle the data for the mods/scenarios. Otherwise I think there might be a new patch for BtS that might fix it.

Sorry, this might be the wrong place but is there a World Mod for BYTS like there was for CiV 4

I have the exact same problem as Wzl.

I simply crash when I try any mods.

It can't be the hardware, I'm running e8400, 2Gb RAM and 8800GTS.

I'm having this exact same problem.

My computer is running the game fine, it isn't an issue of computer quality.
It isn't a bad install, unless I had two in a row (possible, but unlikely).
I'm patched up.

When I try to start a mod/scen the game shuts down to restart and nothing happens. When I manually start the game again there is of course no mod loaded.
On a side note at one point I played the Ice Age scenario through BTS... and I can't remember how that happened.

From reading through the stuff that came up when my search it doesn't look like this was resolved.

No it doesn't. There is no restarting, only closing.

Edit: That is to say I understand the idea of how it is supposed to work but that isn't happening.

I resolved the problem by doing this :

Uninstalled everything, then reinstalling vanilla civ iv, patched up to 1.61

Install BtS, patched up to 3.17

Install FfH2, patched up to "i", then install media files

After that it worked like a charm

I think what was causing problems previously was the warlords expansion
I had installed

I'll try that and let you know. I don't have warlords, so that can't be part of my problem, but I tried playing straight from a clean install last night (not even patched) and didn't get into the mods/scens.

EDIT: What media files are you talking about?

Maybe the patching sequence needs to be right..

The media files is part of the FfH2 package, you won't need it if you
don't install FfH2

You should though, it's a good mod!

FfH is all I play...

I'm going to guess that the media files just install with everything else that's part of FfH?

Either way... I did your install and it still didn't work out. I get the same problem.

Well I think you should contact Firaxis for solution if it's the official BtS mods..
