i cant start the game =(

i cant play civ3 every time i try it only become a black window with the text (no signal input) but my grafik card is a geforce 2 mx400 it should be good enough
my prosesor is a athlon 1400
and my windows is winxp profesional
can someone help me with my problem i will be greatful

my monitor can take over 2000 resolution i have 1260 now and it
works fine..

Definitely download and install the 1.16f patch. In addition, I think you may be experiencing a refresh rate issue so go to this link http://www.ina-support.com/faq/civ3_pc.asp and follow the instructions listed to set the refresh rate in your Civilization3.ini file (the applicable text is a little ways down the page). I think that will solve your problem.

I also had this problem with win xp. Following these directions from the abovementioned website fixed the problem beautifully:

"Once you have installed the patch for this game, you will be able to manually reset the game's refresh rate, which should solve this problem. To do this, first apply the patch, then open the file named, "Civilization3.ini" and add the phrase "refresh=60" (without the quotes) on a new line in this file."
