In the world of tomorrow!!
I'm cornfused. I am American Democracy and north of me are the Aztecs. Normally I eliminate the Aztecs ASAP. Don't know why but I HATE the Aztecs!! The Brits are north of them. I have been playing one against the other (ally with Aztecs and they war against England.) Alright? Alright! The Aztecs are getting their collective hinies booted and now England is near my in an area with Prime Resources. Still in Democracy, I attack 5 English cities. This is where it gets weird. I take the cities (which the population still Aztec). Woth my Luxuries at 10%, All of my cities, including the Aztecs in my new cities, start a "Love the Presidents Day"! I check the new cities and all 5 Pop are happy. What gives?

...once in a game I was playing, I was a Democracy. I declared war ages ago on the Romans, throughout the entire war, the only cities that ever went into disorder were the ones I captured. The rest of my cities however, were all having celebrations!

As soon as I signed a peace treaty, however, those previously celebrating cities stopped celebrating and a couple even fell into disorder!

I guess some civilisations deserve to have a "war-monger" trait added to them.

Yup! I also want to add that if the war goes on "too" long (in my experience) those WLTKDs will disappear as war weariness gets heavier and heavier, until the Democ collapses.

idiotically, war weariness will also increas when you loose units or towns, instead of enraging the people and making them want to fight harded. Tha is why sneak attacks often provoke a quick burst of happiness, then deep weariness. :(

Your confused.......I'm confused!...what exactly is it that your wondering about? What seems to be the problem? You took 5 cities, they like your Government/Leadership better, and they celebrate??? I don't understand what your asking here?
This is the first post I've seen about someone apparently complaining about their citizens being Happy??

Don't get me wrong with the wording of the post, Bridgeboy. I was actually as happy as a clam at high tide! I just posted it to see if anything like this happened before. NO don't give me that shot! I'm OK! AUUGGGHHH! OK I be sleepy now. la la la la.

Yes, citizens can be happy immediately after you conquer their town if they see your government (Democracy vs. Despotism/Communism) and Leadership (More Luxuries/Happy Faces) as better than their previous ruler. What sucks is when you take-over a city from a despotism/communism country that had been "Whipping" it's citizens for pop-rushing. Then the citizens stay perpetually unhappy for a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, time.:crazyeye:

Wow! That long, huh?

Yep, 40 "long" turns.

(Good one, BridgeBoy)

Wow, I guess that is good.....because I just counted them and I did write "long" forty times. It was by mere coincidence though, not intentional. Unless subconciously I somehow knew it was forty.

However, I'm one that still doesn't buy the alleged fact that it is forty turns that they stay unhappy. I'm sure it has lasted even longer than forty turns in one of my games. See this thread:

I thought it might have ment 40 minutes for the computer to finish it's turn!
