I don't see leader animations!

Hello,

I am new and not technologically inclined, so this may be something really easy to fix. I installed Civ 5 last night and I don't see any animations when I talk to other leaders - it just looks like a screenshot with audio. The introduction movie also stops after a few seconds and I'm taken to the main menu; I've yet to see the whole intro movie.

All the other animations seem to work, I see my units moving and the battle scenes, etc, just not the leader animations or the opening scene. My advisors aren't animated either. I didn't change any of the options when I first installed the game...

I am playing on Direct x 9, could this be the reason why I'm missing some of the animation?

sounds like its simply disabled in your video options, check "leader scene quality". i suggest its set on minimum, because with this settings you only see a picture with voice

I had the same issue. It defaulted me to that. When I tried to raise the quality it crashed until I chose "low." Try "low."
