I found out that a female "friend" of mine plays Civilization.

"I love it," she says. I was blown away. I had no clue.

Soon I'll introduce her to Civilization 2 and really blow her mind, hehehe.

For those about to rock, we salute you.
:band:

In our family I got hooked on CIV II and then got my husband hooked. Had to build second computer to stop the arguments. Now I am building another computer so my Grandchildren will leave my game alone.

Now, scloopy, you need to play some multiplayer. A family that slays together stays together

I got to learn to make war first. I go for space and he likes to crush the other civs. I have considered it, but we may both be sore loosers

Another woman who likes Civilisation here! :) My brother got me into the game years and years ago--with the old version of Civ 2 that didn't have the talking advisors and all that--and I've been hooked ever since. I have female friends on-line who are way into Civ 3 and Alpha Centauri, too, and my mother always says that _if_ she was going to try ANY computer game, it would be one of the Civ ones. She says that sounds exactly like her type of game. But she's just not very good with computers in general. :p

As for how I play the game, I totally suck at war, it always takes way too long for me to make any units and by then the enemy has already made like 20 (stupid AI) so I just go for...well, I _guess_ the end goal is space, but if I survive the entire time without being crushed and I have high technology, lots of cities, clean air and water, and happiness, I consider it to have been a good game. :)

I only conquered the world ONCE and that was on the SNES version of Civ 1, and also I think a total _fluke_ of luck. I was playing as the Japanese, and I went stomping out with my first troops and just kept finding more mercenaries, etc... I kept finding the other civs while they were still really new and I would stomp the first city of theirs I found on a total random whim only to find out that that was their ONLY city and I had just completely wiped them out! Travel, search, repeat. :p Until the Goddess showed up and told me what a great job I had done bringing civilisation to the world. WHAT civilisation, I had a group of marauding barbarian jerks! :p

Anyway...congrats on finding the cool girlfriend, Hugh! :)

Computer games should be the last things to talk to with a girl (unless you are really desperate). But anyway, have fun ! ;)

Hold it; I thought we were talking about Civ 2, not Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Are you saying that scloopy is the Slayer in disguise?

It was a Dark and Stormy Night.

Another female Civver here! I've been playing since the original Civ first came out. I got my husband into it, and my almost-2-year old daughter has a bash about with it occasionally!! My husband mainly plays CivIII, but I'm too used to CivII to enjoy CivIII as much. We do play multiplayer, but on the condition we help each other out with research etc. He says if I slaughter him, he won't play again!!

I'd be afraid that if we got married that all we'd do is play C2. :(

You haven't married her yet? What else could there be in a woman worth having?

Heavens, Civ II may cause the end of the human race.

No, it came up while we were chatting.

Me: "Whatcha doin?"
Her: "Playing Civilization."
Me: "I love you."
Her: "What?"
Me: "Nothing. Wrong window."

:p

Many in that club.

I hope Civ4 is better than Civ3...that is, more like Civ2 than Civ3, hehe.
