I got "locked in the box"

When I got my wisdom teeth removed, they said I had a 1 in 300 chance of getting permanent nerve damage. I won the lottery I guess...

I had it happen during a simple extraction, but it repaired itself. For 2 months it felt like the left side of my face was being burnt by bleech.

Anyway, they say that every time you go under general anesthesia, you lose 2-3 IQ points. Scary.

You don't.

I've had my tonsils removed, an operation on my testicles, and numerous stitches, all without anaestesia. One of the benefits of meditation my friends. I guess I don't have to worry about losing brain cells. The truly hard part was getting around after my testicle surgery. Can't meditate every waking moment.

Yeah, I'll take the (local) anaesthesia, thanks.

Screw meditation, give me medication! I just had a buncha opiates after my testicle surgery. Worked great!

I'm actually allergic to two of the major kinds of general anaestetic, and the local stuff isn't suitable for either of those ops. Or at least it wasn't when I underwent them, it was a while back. So meditation or hypnosis were the only real options. And I can't be hypnotised. :crazyeye: It's like my body is actively conspiring against me.

Hang on, what the hell are you doing talking about anaesthetic for testicle surgery Lucy?

I hope you're right but I've heard it on some good authority. Keep in mind I'm talking about the big-operation general anesthesia, not just light sedation.
It may kill brain cells, but that's hardly going to cost you a few IQ points, unless they take your brain out play hockey with it while you're out.

How do you think I became Lucy?
:rotfl:
Either you failed to notice that I quoted both of you, or intentionally ignored it, but either way, you are officially awesome for that comment.

You mean like having an internal organ removed? You don't. It's quite hard to 'track IQ' of a person over time and anesthesia doesn't cause brain cell death like alcohol does.

Wait wait wait, what the hell is "big operation anesthesia"? It is what it is, there are more potent ways of delivery, such as I.V>gas but there aren't varying degrees as far as I know.
