Hi who ever is reading this I need help.

I need to know how to expand my RAM because my computer is new and it only has 120 MB of Ram and 2.4Ghz.

So if you are reading this please post me your answers. And please put it in easy language none of that techno mumbo jumbo.

Where did you get the computer from?

I assume you meant you have 128 MB RAM. RAM tends to go in increments like: 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, etc.

Refer to your manual if you purchased an HP or IBM or something from like a retail store. The manual will tell you what kind of RAM is compatible with your machine. Then you just buy that type in the MB you want and plug it in.

If you bought it from Dell or Gateway or something, call them - and they can give you the same info (you may have some type of document that also has this info).

The other option is bringing it in to a computer repair store and ask for additional RAM (how much), and they will find out for you. The bad part is they charge you for something that is really easy to do, but it's still an option.

120MB smells like 8MB integrated graphics onboard , aka trick to take $ from computer novices...

Ya I got my computer from Gateway I was thinking about calling them. But they charge for the call and no freakin way am I gonna call and get nothing but Crap out of the conversation.
Plus I am using the internet through my friends computer. I have no Internet connection to my computer.

But I remember from somewhere that you could get more RAM by doing something to your computer but not having to install anything and my computer is a pentium centrio and is brand new fresh out of the box. I got the computer 2 weeks ago.

And I bought it off of the internet from Gateway.

128 MB is fine for most users.

256 MB is good for low end gamers and multi-taskers.

512 MB is good for gamers and video editors and graphic designers (though the latter most likely would opt for a Mac).

You can get 1 GB dual RAM if you're extremely hardcore, or insane - but you may have to chase your comp around the room for a while to use it...

personally, I want that new 1 GB RAM...

Depends on the type of RAM your motherboard takes. Does it use DDR 400, 333, etc etc.. SDRAM, RDRAM, or whatever. Look it up, read your manual, it will tell you. Then go to your local computer store and tell them "I have this computer and it uses this kind of RAM and I want to upgrade."

They will sell you whatever they have. RAM is cheap. Get 512mb.

RAM is cheap - $40 for 256MB, $75 for 512MB. if you open your ccomputer, you will void warranty.

If he's using a centrino then it's probably a laptop. I didn't think they were shipping centrinos on desktops.

Go to www.crucial.com or www.kingston.com and use the dropdown boxes to enter your system in it. They will tell you exactly what you need and how much it will cost.

Since when? You must be thinking XBOX, 'cause there's no way you're gonna void your warranty by just opening up your PC, now opening it and pouring pepsi all over the motherboard, that's gonna void your warranty.

I think Gateway, Dell and etc void your warranty for opening the case. One of my friends had a comp from one of those major companys, it had one of those "warranty void if sticker is torn/removed" stickers on the back where you would open the side panel.

When did your friend buy his or her computer, Speedo? Because my Warranty says I can open it and not void the warranty. Even though in the warranty papers they had to write so damn much!! Why can't they just put it in lame terms I swear there stupid papers....god there confusing!!

He's had it about a year I think. If it says you can open it, go for it.

Whoa. I'm saying 'whoa' for two reasons: 1. That's pretty lame. and 2. Making me eat crow.
