I've recently started to play civ bts after a few months of down time and I feel like I'm way better than I used to be.

Anyway, I've been trying to integrate a specialist economy into my game and it has been met with great results.

I've been playing recently with...

Pericles (Cre/Phi)
Map: Continents
Size: Standard
Difficulty: Noble
no tribal villages, no barbarians
6 AI

Anyway, any ideas on strategy? If not, please help with the one I'm currently experimenting with.

I open up researching:

Agriculture
Mining
Bronze Working
Masonry
Wheel
Resource Specific (Animal Husbandry, usually)

I open my first city:
Worker, Settler, Pyramids (chopped)

Any recommendations?

Against the AI, I usually can get away with researching Mysticism, Polytheism, Priesthood and rushing Oracle in my second city...though I know in a multilayer game or at higher difficulties this would not work.

After that, I usually research Writing, Alphabet, (Oracle gets me CoL or Literature) and I build the Great Library with a great engineer.

So yeah, any help would be appreciated.

I think it would be better to decide about strategy after you have seen the map's starting position and scouted a bit.

Other than that, it is usually better not to build settler immediately after worker, as they both don't let the city grow. Once you have the first worker, work resources that let the city grow (so agriculture is usually a good choice, but you need to see the map).

I suggest that you start a game and post some screenshots for advice. The map dictates the strategy at least as much (or maybe even more) as the leader.

If you play at a level where you feel you can get away with doing this and that then you should move up a level if you want to develop your strategies. Otherwise as you pointed out, you can do pretty much whatever you feel like. :)
