i am requesting if some modders can devote some time to making a mod with me and some others here's what i would like
1.some one that knows SKD
2.some one that knows Python
3.maybe some one who knows how to edit DLL(maybe)
4.some one who knows how to add resources and improvements

and anybody that would like to help;).
the team already has three members, nokmirt jarlaxe and me
but i still need more help. the mod is about the Crusades and its called The Crescent And The Cross. PM me if you want to help or post here:).

I would actually suggest that you take this opportunity to learn some of these skills yourselves. :D

But if you have some basic knowledge of Python I could probably offer a hint or two, but you'd still have to do the actual work. I'd love to be able to help out with all of it, but I'm too busy with my own modding...

And I do believe that points 1 and 3 are basically the same. (The DLL is the SDK in its compiled form. But I can't help you with any of it currently.)

Good luck to you anyway!

Let me know if there are components that you might need, especially now that I'm back from the dead
. Also make sure you scan the forums for things thR might already exist.

Yeah, thats the spirit. :goodjob: I could actually also be able to help out with such modular things that can be applied to other mods also. This is the definition of a good time for me. :D

But you still need to be able to puzzle it all together, and it can be much trickier than it sounds. And also, if you wanna hard-code scenario events and the like (historical stuff, like founding of cities, scripting of wars and alliances - those would pretty much have to be done by someone in the project. So hopefully you can find someone with programming experience to do all these things for you - or you would just have to look into it yourselves.

I would love to learn Python but i don't have the time to learn Python. i need events and some other odds and ends.
i want to add a unique thing that i need some one who knows python well enough to figure it out that's why i need a python moder or SKD,DLL.

Well, if you're too busy to learn programming, then you're also too busy not to waste time on dabbling with it without knowing what you're doing. Because that will just lead to endless troubleshooting - time that you could have invested in either mod design - or into actual learning. Just a thought.

I agree with you 100% Baldyr... if you are too busy to learn how to do for yourself then be ready for me to be too busy to help you out. Sorry, that's how I roll. Before starting to mod Civ4 I did not know a lick of Python, right now I don't know a lick of Lua but that will change when Civ5 comes out.

well i am going to learn i am already starting to get it.

Because its quite easy, actually. :D More people need to give this it a go.

Yep, I agree, the python side is easy. The C++/SDK side, not so much, even for an experienced coder like myself.

But Python is a good entry-point. And you mentioned Lua yourself - if you already know Python and programming in general - it will be easy to get into it.

well it brand new to me i don't know anything about programing. i am trying out your tutorial and right now i am having trouble with it for one thing i can't open the testing window:mad: and i don't know how i will test with out it.

Don't worry about it. The Python console isn't necessary for anything, at all. Its just a tool, but I'm guessing a lot of Python modders never use it. (Some might not even be aware of it.)

You get something similar when you install the Python language itself, but you don't need that either for Python modding. But its still a useful tool if you do figure out how to use it. (You can prototype code with it, test statements, confirm logic, that sort of thing. But it can't handle anything CivIV specific, of course. For that you need the built-in Python console. If you can access it, that is. Not everyone can.)

You should learn XML, it's really easy. A good learning book is Head First Programming.

I would help, but I've got my hands overly full right now.

i don't need to learn XML i have expertise in XML;).
