Hello! So I have a little mod experiance creating custom civs with Civ V(of which I only made one so far) and I have not made any new mods for civ V or any of the other titles since 2022, but I find it super difficult to find good modding documentation on even the most basic of things sometimes. Is there anybody who is willing to help?
What I want to create, I want to create a sponser/leader in Beyond earth that has a bonus to submarine units and has them get a bonus when fighting in trenches(a tile that I've noticed in the game that you can't build tile improvements on and doesn't seem to have any bonuses really) So I was wanting to create a leader that leverages ocean tiles and features, including the trench tiles.
I was thinking with starting with something simple like either a movement bonus for all submarine units or something like that, the general strategy I had in mind was Submarine units being your bread and butter to leverage their unique abilities with this leader to both protect your lands/ocean cities and raid enemy trade routes in times of war, but also spying on the enemy.
Submarine units gaining a combat bonus in trenches, extra sight, movement, outside of friendly territory or something that would synergize? I am partly inspired by how ZEPHON does leaders where they start with a cool bonus and a downside as well, said downside gets mitigated via researching technologies(but is never completely negated) and then unlocking new abilities through the tech tree. Was thinking maybe applying that here?
But the biggest problem is making the sponser and their unique bonuses and the like? It should be similar to civ V coding/mod making am I wrong? But if anybody has more insight I would really like to know if there's a good simple to follow guide/documentation on making Custom "civs" for this game?
I know that I have/always have wonderful ideas for unique playstyles I'd want to explore and play around with and Civ is like my favorite turn based strategy franchise. It's given me so much! Why can't I give back?
