My first impression after two demo games is that civ 5 has an incredible amount of strategies (city locations and specalizations, social policy rush strategies, strategic resources, combat system especially with hills/rivers terrain) which are going to evolve and need to be evaluated. However one thing is making me upset: The icons that show how much food/hammers/gold one tile yields. First can you see which tiles are being worked when you are NOT in the city screen (same about resources like cows... in civ4 you could even see which tiles enemy cities are working on when you take a close look) ? Second thing is that those icons should be kind of half visible like in civ4. I like to play with show tile yields always on but in civ5 the map is just too overcrowded then and i lose the overview. Maybe i get used to it with more play time. Third thing is... apples !? Come on... bread was the perfect visualizations symbol as it is made from human beings. In addition you pretty much farm anything in civ5 . Well maybe they did choose the apple because the green symbol differs more from the other two..
