Before I took my break mostly I just played (for testing reasons) my mod. I'd like to see other people's takes on the epic game. Maybe have some sort of contest or something? With rewards with different catagories like most historical, most flowing etc, that sort of thing.

Opinions?

I'm not so sure; people pour their hearts and souls into their mods, more so than for their graphics and the such. Mods are a real personal area, IMO

Just my 2p :)

My personal mod is long gone...the biq has become the RuleTheWorld mod, which is nowhere near release-ready.

I like that idea though. It would be interesting to see how different players play the game.

I like this idea too, but I have no personal mod to contribute -- I very rarely play Civ anymore, and if I do, it's someone else's mod.

I have changed just about every file over the years (we are closing in on a decade), not to mention all the LH's, units, etc... that have been added. I play it a bit everyday, unless there is a new great game like Final Fantasy, Warhammer, EFZI, etc..

I would guess that this is the case with a lot of people, I have actually thought of loading my game, but the size is probably extremely large and there is no special theme.

My game is 31 CIVs, all the original Conquests civs except the Americans are replaced by the Sioux. 1000 turns 9992BC to 2258AD. I've balanced the game over the years, advancements are paced, 25 turns is the fastest that you can research (units aren't always obsoleted from the time war is declared to the time of the actual battle), I've added mechs and genetically modded units in the last couple centuries, I've added some mythical units just because the units are so good. I use different workers for different jobs, so you may see several different workers for one civ on the screen at the same time.

Sorry, I've started to ramble, but it is faster than downloading the whole game.

Im working on an epic mod too but its nowhere near release. I'll post a preview soon though. Its called Civ3Evolution.

OT: next week I'm in Libson :)

I think the new version of my mod will be different. It will be more evolutive, with possible additional tools to my expanded editor to support that.

The idea is to make a first version, based on the ancient era, and Europe, and then expand the game to other era, and other civ, and then merge it all in one big epic game.

For instance, I can make Ancient/medieval with 9 Europeans civ, a Modern with America added, but no ancient era, then add the Arabs and Asian to the ancient/medieval, etc. And when all the individual parts are ready and tested, "merge" them in a big epic mod

For what it is worth .. mod is a variation of RaR (showed start of a tad ago here) that has shrunk the 4 ages to 2.5 ages and added in space /future techs for the last 1.5 ages. Also modded terrain so have space, star systems and other planets in the game. Can't get to them until the last 1.5 ages. It's done but for the normal civ-pedia redo and unit rebalance in last phase of the game. Have to build maps .. random doesn't work. Runs from about 4000BC to 3000AD. Oh and it requires patience in the later periods of play ... did I say slow.

Some people may feel shy about sharing their actual mod for various reasons that might still be willing to post a screenshot or two, with a brief description. I'd like to see the thread as a discussion / idea sparker, rather than any kind of a contest.

My mod is obviously "Heretic_Cata's All in One Mod". So it's already posted.

I don't see why people who have personal mods didn't already post them. (unless they have too few modifications or smthing)

Or if they are a work in progress type thing without decent civipedia etc...

Plus some people are worried about potential criticism of what can be a very personal mod.

Some people's personal mods are just mashups of other people's work & they may not feel like uploading that.

My personal mod started as a tweak of the old Balancer mod for PtW, but I've since re-worked it from scratch. But it's only barely playable through the (extended) ancient era, I'm only just now getting started on modding bits of the medieval era! Not bad for 6 years of work. I'll post stuff for fun later.
