Ideas for new Civ4 units.

Which of these units I've created would you like best in Civ4? Anyway, feel free to post your ideas for units in a future sequel/expansion.
 
Actually, most if not all of these have shown up at one time or another in Double Your Pleasure. Quite possibly the finest mod for Civ3/PTW. If I'm not mistaken, some of the modder's ideas were incorporated into C3C.

In any event, these all look like decent units. Should have made it a multiple choice pool. . .

Ah, yes, it shows. I hate newbiedom, but, you have to be a newbie before you can be a veteran. I'm still trying to figure this forum out entirely, so help me out here. ;)
 
Two solutions: 1) Ask a mod to close the thread, and create a new one. Probably not your best option, as it clutters the front page.

2) Ask a mod to change the poll from one choice only to multiple choice. Actually, this has a pretty good chance of happening.

You were close. ;) The poll had to be redone though.

But to avoid this in the future, make sure the second option is checked. And don't worry about it. We were all newbies once. Yes, even me. ;)

I really, really like the idea of the H-Bomb. Hehe, I can just imagine wrecking havok upon the Ais even faster. That is truly the best idea there.

actually mods can't change the poll from single choice to multichoice

I like all those ideas, the more units the better, right?

I think in today's world, terrorist HAS to be a unit, maybe it would act like a spy.
 
I have old Civ3 and i havent played PTW or Conquests so I dont know if this is included

but there should be an option for regular infantry units to dig in and move in stealth in jungle areas. then they could ambush units moving through and inflict 200% damage or something

the stealth mode would make them invisible to aircraft and only visible to units in adjacent squares

a drawback to this should be that units only be allowed to move one square every 2 turns in stealth mode, so if they move once, the next turn they cannot move.-
 
I would also like to see airplanes that can have a special option of dropping Napalm in jungle areas, that could be used to clear out jungle areas of stealth infantry before pushing through, or at least to attempt to

Transport planes (capacity 4, range like the Stealth Bomber, able to carry wheeled, defense strength 2)
Attack Helicopter/Gunship (just like it's implemented in DyP, with higher attack strength then MA but lower defense)
Spy/Terrorist (invisible, parachute, sabotage/intel ability)
Commando/Special Forces (invisible, parachute, amph, attack strength like Marines)
AEGIS Destroyer (upgraded Destroyer)
Combat Engineers (Engineers that can defend themselves and build in enemy terrain)
Medics (heal units in the field faster)
Amphibious Carriers (carry both aircraft and ground troops)
Stealth Fighter than can also do air superiority (like F-22)
Dreadnoughts (early Battleships)

:goodjob: Your wish is my wish Plus the transport planes can carry like 10 workers(in 1.07 I have to use ships :( )
 
I noticed in the Conquests editor that Helicopters have been changed to being able to hold 3 units. So they're actually better now.. except that they can still only hold foot units.

What I want to see though, is the ability of a helicopter to actually be able to retrieve foot units and fly them to safety. So a new air mission could be added for helicopters, a retrieval mission, that would allow it to fly to a square, automatically load a unit of your choice(limited to foot units, probably would use a pulldown menu similar to stealth attacks), and then fly back to its airbase.

A neat variation could also be a medvac helicopter that heals units that it retrieves. Those units would then be ready to fight again in the next turn.

Of course, this still doesn't make them much more necessary because of the dominance of armored assault units in the late Industrial and modern ages.
 
You should have a land transport unit to vote for. (Jeep, APC, etc.)
 
1) The hydrogen bomb should not produce pollution (since it uses energy from fusion)
2) The attack helicopter should be a ground unit (ie a/d/m), however it should be a very effective against tanks and MA.
