Discussion: What do you think about Colbert's SuperPAC? A force for good in political discourse, raising awareness of the consequences of Citizen's United? Unmitigated rabble? The distractions of a bored comedian? Something in-between?

And will he run for President of the United States of South Carolina?

He's treating the election process as seriously as it should be treated.

I love it. There's nothing that he's doing that other campaigns aren't doing, or would do if they'd thought of it. At he's harmless and being open about it.

I hope that Colbert gets the majority in the South Carolina primary if only to further point out how incredibly stupid our political system has become.

These are great. It's an extremely hilarious vehicle for Colbert and Stewart, and it'll probably accidentally teach some lessons along the way.

    Also, John Lithgow is awesome.

I have a feeling one day in the future Colbert will actually run, this is all just him testing to see if he can.

Anyway, I hope Colbert's PAC continues to make ads like that.

Totally didn't realize that was him until you mentioned it. That's hilarious, given he um played a serial killer, but I imagine that's the joke.

Nah. Cain doesn't want to be President and is in on this with Colbert.

As funny as it is, and while trying to make good points, I do somewhat worry that making the electoral system into a literal joke could do further harm to it and perhaps supress voter turnout in the future.

Citizen's United was one of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever.

I watch the Colbert Report almost every night. It lightens my mood after of day of hard work.

I think it's basically his way of showing the people how ridiculous, hilarious, and dangerous your electoral system is and how badly it needs reform.

The more silly it gets, the stronger his point becomes.

I think it's great. I mean, if you think about it, Colbert and Stewart could spend their time dissecting Republican debates / candidate interviews / primaries the whole week. They provide enough material for both of them, and I'd find it just as funny.

But instead they devote their time in completely deconstructing a flawed system while still being funny about it.

Basically this. He's treating it with the level of respect it deserves. And it's not that much.

There was a great recent segment on The Daily Show where they were pointing out how poorly drawn the "no collusion" line is between candidates and their super PACs. Fascinating if scary stuff.
