If I could gain control peacefully, sure. But if I'd need to launch a bloody coup and ruthlessly crush opposition with an Americanized Gestapo....then probably not.

But yeah, if I could do so at least somewhat peacefully with the support of the majority of the population, then definitely. I think I'd make a pretty good leader. I could be biased, of course.

unfortunately, Canada doesnt have a population large enough to support that if I did. As well, if there was a DICTATOR of CANADA who murdered a large part of the population, the US would intervene.

Also, if you are assassinated in power, you were still dictator-for-life.
