Your ideal country would have what combination of Civics? (Feel free to enumerate why.)

And my ideal Combo would be...

Representation
Nationhood
Emancipation
Mercantilism
Organized Religion

(yes, I'm a conservative.);)

And BTW, you HAVE to pick a member of the category, in other words, Atheists, you can say free, pacifism, or even pagaism, if you want, but no whining about the narrow options of the choices. Some of them don't exactly describe my ideal society either.

Universal Suffrage
Free Speech
Emancipation
Free Market
Free Religion.

Rather easy!

Representation
Free Speech
Emancipation (who's going to change this one? ;) )
Free Market
Free Religion

Free Religion
Universal Suffrage
Emancipation
Free Speech
Free Market

Universal Suffrage
Free Speech
Emancipation
Free Market
Free Religion. Pacifism if its a nationally encouraged moral philosophy that is otherwise free religion.

Many libertarians on here much? I was hoping for a much larger mercantilism/environmentalism/Free Market debate...

I'm actually more interested in a universal suffrage v representation debate.

I didn't pick rep since it doesn't necessarily imply that every person will be represented, whereas universal suffrage will imply free elections with men and women of all classes, and I would think would imply representation.

mercantilism is a horribly antiquated economic principle. And no one knows WTH environmentalism actually means.

Ummm...as a political science major, I would say that "Neomercantilism" represents a large portion of Western conservative-economic thought, including my own...and "Environmentalism" would probably represent the kind of large State intervention on behalf of "the environment" and "protecting the little guy" that the modern Democratic party has backed.

As a political science major, eh?

So tell me, political science major, is neomercantilism is just modern day protectionism, fair trade, old-mercantilism with modern products, or something else?

It all depends on what wonders I have built.

I must say I toy with the idea of nationhood with pacifism, but the rest completely liberal (universal suffrage, emancipation, free market), given that its based on their principles and nothing to do with their in game bonuses.

Universal Suffrage
Free Speech
Emancipation
Free Market (If their is a slightly more Socialist on that one I don't play civIV.)
Free Religion

While really hoping this is not a trick question, posed to make me look like an idiot, I'm going to take a stab at Neo-mercantilism being a protectionist theory opposing the effects of globalization such as outsourcing and unrestricted inter-first world commerce in order to avoid situations such as that which the US is in now (owing China the kitchen sink and depending on Southeast Asia for a shocking amount of our economy.)

That's interesting. Thanks for letting me know. I've thought about that kind of trade, but I didn't know it's actually a thing.

Now I'm gonna go the to a 90º tilt of that, going the long 270º way. That probably made no sense. Imagine a circle representing political-economical views. Let's say you are in the up-left "corner". Allow me to propose something also on the top, but the up-right "corner", but from such a different route than just shifting over 90 degrees--i.e. I went around the long way. That probably also didn't make sense. Nevermind, just read the article I posted here : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=236156

That is extremely interesting...of course, being a rabid Nationalist, I would question the wisdom of allowing the worlds poorest, and (dare I say it?) most desperate individuals access to our labor, but it's an interesting concept.

Id rather have poor people making me cheap stuff than listening to an insufferable windbag go on and on about how we need more manufacturing jobs in the united states when they, themselves have never worked such a job.
