WildFire's thread started taking a strange turn, but it gave me an idea! If you were the supreme ruler of the world, what would you do? How would you rule and what would you change?

I would take all the countries that I like and make them into provinces. They would then absorb all their neighboring countries and pay 90% of all their taxes directly to me, making me extremely rich

Before I resign as the supreme ruler, I would appoint my pet Monkey to world senate, and ban the ingestion of Brussels sprouts
how would I rule the world?
well simply put, I would make self an executive officer- and let a senate elected by the people handle most matters, I woul dhowever keep the right of Veto, but cannot inact laws with out a majority vote of the senate, this along with a sort of supreme judicial authority, and the position of supremem commander of the armed forces, more or less would make me a limited Roman emperor (though there are other kinks in the system)
the aim of my Imperatorship is to wean the people off of a single monarch by leading them into a senate controlled government, with the notable inclusion that a vote by the people can ivveride any law/act by the senate, so that it is the people who trully get to decide (with the exception of MOST military matters0
as for what i would change?- lots, time to end the cultural monopoly big comapines have, and its time for curroption to end once and for all...
how might one achieve this?
higher taxes for the larg company, or an :industrial tax"- taxes like that on a company like microsoft should mean that lower taxes for the individual citizen are possible..
these taxes also help quash corruption, as higher saleries might be paid to government employees- thus decresing the need/want of money that is the major lure to corruption
lots of culteral resotration, I want to see the great mouments like the colloseum, Parthenon, Pantheon, and Great Wall, fully restored (and in the case of the Parthenon, and Pantheon, in active use once more)
Education would get a boost, and yes, english woul dbe the primary language of the empire, but with strong recomendation for localities to learn the "former' national dialect
the eduaction would take its foirm from modern science, and what we knoe about the developement of the brain at different stages- example- we know that early on, language is the main focus of the brain, as such, the early years fo schooling center around language, both the imperial standard (english) and the territores heriditary language, along with many others, thne it is later on, the the maths ar emore focused, along withthe sciences, and History, and such...
science to would take a big leap forward, as the government funds private companies, and ingages in self research for technological breakthroughs...
I'd also begin the terraforming of mars- just in case

But in reality, ruling the entire world would be a bureaucratic and political nightmare. I dont think I could handle the pressure and strain of having such an important office.

I know! I wouldn't even want it. I'd probably be drinking Pepto-Bismal all day long and yelling at my underlings. I'd be content with a small chunk... like a couple of states or something!
