If you ruled the country that you lived in (say which one), what civics in civ would your gov have and why??

    I live in the UK
    I'd have:
Uni. Suffrage: I'd follow the Swiss system in some way-proper democracy.
Bureaucracy: Simply because you can't trust free speech anymore (sadly)
    Emancipation: Of course
State Property: I'm a socialist. Would obviously go with Bureaucracy well and I don't have time to give you an essay on how it works with the rest.
Pacifism: Because I'm pacifist. Why waste money on arms (again following Swiss)

I suspect that anyone claiming to be socialist has never actually lived under a actual socialist regime. Sorry, Moggy Dave. Try living in Cuba a few years, then get back to me on that one. Unless of course, you actually enjoy being oppressed. Some people do, you know.

    Monarchy
    Free Speech
    Emancipation
    Free Market
    Free Religion

Gotta keep that leadership all in family.

I agree with you in everything but theocracy. I don't mind a single religion theocracy as long as there is no religious persecution. :)

Gov - Universal Sufferage (That all men are created equal, and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights...)

Legal - Free speech (I disagree with what you are saying, but will defend, to the death, your right to say it)

Labor - Emancipation - (Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console, to love, as to love. Where there is dispair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let me bring light, Where there is sadness, let there be joy. For it is in giving that we receive, in pardoning, that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.)

Economy - Free Market - (And the Lord shall look after those who stray from the fold, and watch over those who do not, so all shall have freedom in the glory and protection of the Lord)

Religion - Organized Religon - (Love the Lord Thy god will all thy heart, thy mind, and thy strength...The second is this, Love thy neighbor as thyself... In all the law and prophets, there are no commandments greater than these.)

Well, as long as I was in charge...

Government: Police State (Nobody disagrees with me! Off with their heads, the heretics!)

Legal: Vassalage (Because I would certainly have a highly militaristic, insane empire, I would require subservient underlings to provide me with some degree of bureaucratic control.)

Labour: Emancipation (Everyone in my empire can be elevated to citizenship. I have to throw those poor sods a bone some time, you know.)

Economy: State Property (While I'd mostly give people free reign to do what they are best at, I would rather like the ability to force certain events to occur in the realm of economics if I wished to.)

Religion: Theocracy (Most certainly a 'Divine Emperor' cult based on myself, of course! If they worship me, they'll never depose me!)

So, I suppose my nation would end up like a 1984 version of the mid-Roman Empire.

All the most modern, presumably 'enlightened' civics. And they wouldn't just be in name only. Assuming I would be able to ignore all those people who would stand to lose the most of course.

    :crazyeye:

I guess that would be... police state, free speach, slavery, free market, free religion.

Say whatever you want to say. Believe whatever you want to believe. Break the law, and your ass belongs to the state.

:( I wish. Pacifism, however, requires no military, not even for simple city garisonning... meaning someone like hitler could invade too easy! We must defend freedom and His followers! Though, defensivly, not pre-emptively, if you get my meaning :king: Use as backup, but our main defence will be diplomacy.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. :jesus: :jesus:

Well, Castro calls himself a Marxist-Leninist, not a Socialist. (Communist believe Socialism is temporary, and that it should be used to pave way for Communism)

    Anyway, I'd say:

    Government: Representation
    Legal: Free Speech
    Labor: Emancipation
    Economy: State Property
    Religion: Free Religion

An Environmentalist Police State!!  Wow! Sort of like Sierra Club meets Stalin!

Hope you don't think I'm making fun of you, I'm not, just the idea of a fascist environmentalist state made me laugh out loud while thinking about it!

Castro also claims to be a democrat, to hold free elections in Cuba, and to have the "most democratic state in the world" Don't believe any of that right? So why do you believe the socialist part?

I am a Cuban-American, my family grew up in Cuba and I myself have traveled there and lived in a real Cuban family's house and not in a hotel - While I don't want to go too off topic here I can tell you that Cuba is not the hell hole (nor the heaven on earth) that some people claim it to be. Perhaps to first world Westerners they see faults, but to Latin Americans and people living in the third world - where hunger, poverty, homelessness, illiteracy, lack of education, lack of adequare healthcare - are very real and terrible problems - Cuba seems like a vast improvement over their own situation as these problems are virtually nonexistent in Cuba. Which is if not a miracle for a small third world country shunned by the US and most of her allies, the closest thing to it.

Anyway here would be my civics if I were to lead a country:

    Universal Suffrage
    Free Speech
    Emancipation
    State Property
    Free Religion
