i HAVE CIVILIZATION 3 - PLAY THE WORLD. I HAVE INTALLED THE PATCH (1.04f) AND NOW WHEN I RUN THE GAME I DOSEN'T RUN AND SAYS IFC23.DLL IS MISSING. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF THIS ERROR PLEASE HELP WITH IT

heppens to me too.....you can still play the game by running the civilization3xd.exe... but i doubt this one runs the patch version since the patch doesnt overwrite this file

Is the IFC23.dll in you Civ3PTW folder ?

well..it says its missing..so what do you think :)

why..is that file in your civ3 folder? i guess the question then is.. why is it in yours and not in mine.....

did someone even tested this patch in firaxis?

Well what are you waiting for then? Put it there.... :P

No, it's not in my Civ3 folder actually, but in the sub-folder called CIV3PTW - which is where it should be. It comes straight off the cd, so if it's not there, something probably went wrong when you installed it :) Patch 1.04f doesn't delete files, it only overwrites some.

If it's there or if reinstalling doesn't get it there, I guess you should post this in the PtW bugs forum. But if this was a fault of the patch, wouldn't everybody be experiencing this?

i would copy it into the folder if i could..but i got no such file...either on the cd nor anywhere else... if u can post the file then maybe i can just copy into the directory......

i would say this is a rather odd problem..some ppl seem to have it, but most dont..

Edit Removed link.

But it's really weird if the file is not on your cd - especially since not all people seem to have this bug. That would in effect mean that there were two versions of the game....

thx...now it works...

from now on im playing one version behind...these firaxis patches just are not for me

Huh - didn't you say that the file was not on the CD - but now you're blaming the patch...

Why don't you try installing the patch again and see if the problem comes up again - maybe we can all benefit from what you find.

Wow, this server delay is really going to help my postcount, isn't it?

3 posts in a row, and 2 of them saying absolutely nothing - geez that's cool :o

i was blaming for the patch since i could play the game ok without the patch, but when i patched it then it'll complain about the file...

the file is installed on the windows directory, not the civ folders.. so maybe theres something weird going on my installer.. anyway,

i installed the activex thingie that the apolyton ppl suggested and now it works with the patch as well

Hmmm.... that file is missing from the warez version....

and even more odd is the fact the Civilization3xd.exe is only available in the warez version....

Well, waddya know....

I thought the extra 'd' was a typo and was feeling good about myself for not commenting on that....

I've got an easy bugfix then, but I guess everybody already figured it out....

Uh, Mike, can you explain what the 2 versions mean? Is it a patch file or on the original CD?

Maybe it would be obvious to me if I had PTW but can't get it yet....

**** POSSIBLE SOLUTION ********

I have had the same problem. After reading people's posts and given some thoughts I made some scientific researches of my own. Some people were saying that it might have something to do with an activex. So I have found something that might be interesting. There is an activex called Immersion Web Plugin that includes ifc23.dll in their package.
Unfortunately I'm at work right now and I can't test it until evening

So if there are some people out there who can give it a shot and get back to me on that.

By default, the plug-in installs many files apart ifc23.dll. So if people are not comfortable to have this package installed, I recommend installing first, then copy the file ifc32.dll (from windows\system32 into civplaytheworld directory. Then remove the activeX program. And finally copy the file back to windows\system32 so that the file would exist in both system32 and Civplaytheworld directory.

You can download the activeX here:
http://www.immersion.com/developer/downloads/ImmWebPlugin/
and download the file: ImmersionWebPlugin.exe

Please get back to me, I'm very curious:eek:

Lord Bishop:

Please reread the thread:

You're missing the file because it is not included in the WAREZ version of the game.

In other words - you're not playing the legal copy of the game.

To fix the problem....BUY the game..:ripper:
