All you guys do great work with maps, mods etc etc. But i'm a picky fellow and every single map I download I want to change it just a little bit.

Now I keep hearing everybody say use Civ World Builder and what not, create and destroy civs in worldbuilder, pick out their starting locations etc etc etc.

I have BTS by the way.

Anywho I've been into the world builder many times more often than not just to see how the Earth map looks and whether or not I like it.
Having said that whenever I enter worldbuilder via the Civ game which is the only way to get in that I'm aware of....there are always some civs that have already founded their capital.
Hence already any editing is not true *before the game began* type editing.

So how do I do that? Whats more the creation of civs, choosing their leaders and the placement or destruction of them I've looked through what little (i think their's 6 or so in total) menu boxes there are in the world builder and I've never come across an option to let me do that.

Can somebody steer me in the right direction because I like the look of Carter's Earth map But i think Europe is a shade too small to support the amount of civs he's packed in there and Africa is a bit crowded with 4 civs as well.

I'm hopeful there is some standalone map editor like there used to be for civ3 because for the life of me I looked in worldbuilder and the functions people are talking about i don't seem to see them.

Any help richly appreciated.

With civ building you can add units, change the land, add oceans, decrease oceans, create cities, add technologies, and you can kill off civilizations just to bring them back.

You pretty much have to play with it. Never kill off your only city, else you will lose :p

Sweet got all that worked out. But I was more interested in terms of editing/changing worldbuildersaves rather than in-play changing.

I'm looking to know how to add new civilizations and remove those that are in it.
I've got Carter's 18civ BTS earth map and its pretty sweet but some of the civs he's included aren't to my liking, europe is too small and some civs are in...frankly just dreadful terrain and as such may as well not even be in the game.

So i changed all the terrain, made europe larger and more accurate, changed all the terrain I wanted to.

But most of all I want to add some new civs and remove some I'd rather not have like the Ethiopians. Already got carthage, egypt and zulu i think thats enough in Africa.
So how do I add/remove cilivzations in worldbuilder because for the life of me its not evident. I can edit them but not add new or remove whats there already.

Believe it or not, you can do a LOT of changes without ever going into Civ or using the Worldbuilder...

You can change Civs, edit terraign, change starting locations and leaders all in NOTEPAD!

Just open the saved map-file in Notepad and edit away... it's pretty straight forward, including hex locations, nations included, starting leaders, etc, etc.
