All you guys do great work with maps, mods etc etc. But i'm a picky fellow and every single map I download I want to change it just a little bit.

Now I keep hearing everybody say use Civ World Builder and what not, create and destroy civs in worldbuilder, pick out their starting locations etc etc etc.

I have BTS by the way.

Anywho I've been into the world builder many times more often than not just to see how the Earth map looks and whether or not I like it.
Having said that whenever I enter worldbuilder via the Civ game which is the only way to get in that I'm aware of....there are always some civs that have already founded their capital.
Hence already any editing is not true *before the game began* type editing.

So how do I do that? Whats more the creation of civs, choosing their leaders and the placement or destruction of them I've looked through what little (i think their's 6 or so in total) menu boxes there are in the world builder and I've never come across an option to let me do that.

Can somebody steer me in the right direction because I like the look of Carter's Earth map But i think Europe is a shade too small to support the amount of civs he's packed in there and Africa is a bit crowded with 4 civs as well.

I'm hopeful there is some standalone map editor like there used to be for civ3 because for the life of me I looked in worldbuilder and the functions people are talking about i don't seem to see them.

Any help richly appreciated.

This subforum Civ4 - Utility Programs is for posting utility programs not for asking questions  or general talk about map editing. Use in the future Civ4 - Creation & Customization forum for asking questions.

For such problem you have i use notepad and later clean it in worldbuilder (fixing starting locations, fog of war, etc).

You may try worlbilder also (choose custom scenario - there you can specify what nations you want and what not, and later move starting locations in worlbuilder as you like).

If you start a map/scenario and enter world builder... YES... some Civs may have already started... for them, delete their cities/units and then re-start them using the world builder.

You can also set things in Notepad for the scenario, including start positions and any kind of terraign change you want.
