I'm trying to min max great people growth rate.

I know to go with Philosophical, but I think I can to better at trying to min-max my :gp:%. Are there any good combinations of civics or religions that have good :gp:%? The reason I want to know is simply that I have a flood of :science: when I play. :gp: give free techs or make them faster to research (and therefore tech up)

Get state religion and spread it - some civics require it for GP boost.
Spiritual trait would go together well.
 
Right now I'm in Industrial. I have Democracy (+.25 :gp:%), Federalism (+.10 :gp:%), Separation of Power (+.20 :gp:%), Pacifism (+.10 :gp:%) Secularism (+.10 :gp:%), and Egalitarian (+.20 :gp:%) as my civics that are boosting my :gp:% (195 :gp:% to be exact). I have Developing Leaders on, with a Creative I (+.10 :gp:%, also giving me :culture:) and Philosophical I (+.25 :gp:%) leader. I also have Philosophical II (+.50 :gp:%), Pious I (+.15 :gp:% with state :religion:) and Progressivist I (to make state :religion: irrelevant when it disables benefits for non-state :religion:), to give 2.8:gp:% rate in total. I'm sure that's good, but with the possibility of getting Gestalt Mind (same :gp:% as Democracy, but more :science:%), Compulsory (+.05 :gp:%), Eco-Friendly (+.25 :gp:%), Post-Currency (+.05 :gp:%), Xenosemotic (+.05 :gp:%), and Post-Borders (+.10 :gp:%), I may get to have 330 :gp:%, assuming no additional modifiers from traits.
 
Avoid Caste System at least...

I actually found this a bit the opposite; with caste system, the sheer number of citizens you can convert to specialists actually can increase gp rate, not to mention giving you a bit more control over which type of great person you get.

The population growth does make it a way to invest into greater GP rates later if you're willing to take the hit for a while. I find its better to get more GP later in the game than a ton earlier anyhow and that with the exponential growth of birth threshold, you can make things tough during corporation expansions if you flood yourself with them too early.
 
Adopt Apprenticeship, without a doubt.
In my experience, those 3 free specialists go a long long way.
