Today, at the beginning of 2102, I, Maria Ivanova, the head of the renewed International Olympics Committee, am pleased to announce that the Olympics have taken their first step in their restoration. I am thoroughly floored by the international support that this project has received, and it is an honour to lead the IOC in its first steps.
With that being said, I believe it is time to introduce the IOC itself, and the members of the executive board, which are as of follows:
President: Maria Todorova (Balkan Federation)
Co-Presidents:
Irwan Raharjo Pranoto (ASEAN)
James McAlister (IUN)
Sofia Zemenfes Abdu (Abyssinia)
Lughaidh Mac Artair (Ireland)
Kati Conateh (The Sakari Federation)
Executive Members:
Aleksandur Ilych (Eurasia)
Steff the Roock (Shuddering Coalition)
Helvetia Montana (Rome)
Shamayim (Carthage)
Maria Rezio (Colombia)
Sravan Kabil (Dravidian Free Republic)
Nicholas Hooper (Australia)
Ehsan Hatami (Empire of Zun)
(OOC: The names are all placeholders. If you have a suggestion for a different name, go ahead and tell me and I’ll edit it in.)
Those are all people that have been asked for their agreement to join the IOC, being either former athletes, or interested in realizing the Olympic dream.
With that said, I am also proud to say that we’ve also resurrected the Olympic Charter, albeit, with a change that I believe is important to mention.
That is to say, that in the end, we’re all humans, and that we should not let artificial divides separate us all. Even the original charter realized this, in the fact that sports is a human right. We agree with this statement, but we’d go further: it unifies us as humans, all of us.
This leads us to the next point. The Olympics are a celebration of the human, not of the nation. One of the things that tarnished the past Olympics is the fact that it has been used by both the hosts & the participants as a way to prove their superiority in one way or another, or as a proxy in geopolitical conflicts. This will not be tolerated in any way. Nor will be any sectarian, ideological or nationalist conflicts on the site of the Olympics. The IOC shall strive to the best of its abilities to accomplish this noble goal, because, once again, we are all humans first and foremost.
Lastly, but in no way leastly, the choosing of host cities will be drastically changed. Yet another thing that has been the scourge of past Olympics was the enormous political & economical interests that have distorted the initial noble goal of the Olympics. (Remember El Riyad 2036?). Thus, to combat this, we shall instead accept city candidacies, and elect one on a semi-random basis. That being said, however, the IOC reserves its right to veto any applications that occur in certain extreme situations – mostly, current warzones. For an example, Rome & Tunis would be rejected immediately, as well as Shanghai or Tokyo. We see no reason in giving warmongers the honour of hosting an Olympics.
Well. That’s it all. We eagerly await your applications for the 2102 Olympics, as well as your admissions into the IOC!
