First Aspect: Anti-Colonial Hallmark: the nearly established power that reliant on its political mobility to rally themselves, despite the decentralised nature of the Union.
Second Aspect: Weichafes: having overthrown the shackles of colonialism the Free Union is hardy and will prove very difficult for a invader to contend.

• High Concept: Ad Astra Per Aspera - a technocratic confederacy comprised of three nations, Margaitania (comprised of the past lands of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau), Senegal (with control over the outlying islands), and Novo Asanteman (the remaining Eastern region of the Federation). Having witnessed the failure of humanity on Earth, five tech corporations in the region banded together, with the goal being to establish life beyond this planet, so the future of humanity rests beyond the confines of the atmosphere. Each nation has signed the Constitution of the Federation, which outlines a basic political structure for each, wherein democracy still exists, but effectively the megacorporations who found haven in the mineral-rich coastline run the economic proceedings of each nation, each controlled by a family.
• Trouble: Class Conflict - recent droughts have led to food shortages, only exacerbating unrest between the Corporate (those who devote their lives to the corporations) and the Liberated (those who choose to live in the cities outside corporation control).
• First Aspect: For the Common Man - though the elite dominate the economically divided nation, they recognize that only through cooperation can another planet be reached. As such, the families who lead the corporations relinquish all but executive power to the workers, in a meritocratic fashion - those who work the best are given more power, in some weird libertarian syndicalist fantasy. Some have chosen to forsake the protection of the corporate estates, though, and live as the self-proclaimed Liberated.
  
• Second Aspect: Lehr und Kunst (Theory and Practice) - many principles, including the democratic and legal processes, of the nations of the Federation are based around the scientific method. Written into the Constitution of the Federation, such practices allow for an ever-changing sociopolitical climate being a symbol of change rather than a symptom of instability.
  
• Third Aspect: By Word or By Gold - due to the immense trade power from its mineral wealth and coastline, the Federation makes itself a major player in international politics. When diplomacy breaks down, there is no shortage of wealth and technology that the Federation is willing to offer as a trade or peace offering.

Hawaiian Dominate

High Concept: Thassalocratic Military Junta - Following the Cataclysm, and the overall downfall of the United States of America, Hawaii was essentially left to fend for its own, severed from the mainland. Thousands died as a result from that. From the military bases in Pearl Harbor (now the administrative capital of Hawaii) and Fort Ford, the ex-American navy officers rose up as the new elites, being able to command and support the ships stationed there. With the arrival of the IUN, those tendencies were reined in, however, and both the Pearl Harbor & the Fort Ford had to submit to the new authorities. Naturally, this caused a lot of resent within the military elite there, causing Hawaii to be one of the first regions to separate from the IUN once the faults in the latter became apparent. Ever since then, the islands have been ruled by the ironfisted dictatorship exerted by the naval elite.
Trouble: Isolation: To grow, Hawaii must have further contact with the mainland. Being part of the enormous United States was a massive boon for it, but now, with that severed connection, it has become a provincial backwater with no growth opportunities. So far, not a lot of success has been found on that front, with most states being hostile or ambivalent towards the idea of opening to Hawaii.

High Concept: Island Confederacy - The disparate islands of Polynesia & Melanesia have banded together to look after one another. Its creation is for the most part a peaceful process, forged out by a desire for prosperity in unity.
Trouble: Dependency - In order to continue existing, the Polynesian Community is hugely reliant on trade and contacts with ASEAN and Australia. Without the two giants next to Polynesia, the Community would surely collapse.

Few words are necessary in explaining how we arrived at the situation we find ourselves in 2101 AD. For you, the past is fresh in your mind’s memory or the ancestral memory of your people. To further elaborate on the state of the world would be unnecessary in most cases, but I will focus on particular on one, only one, current event.

The Roman Empire and New Carthage stand poised to enter into a round of renewed fighting after the failure of a peace conference to resolve the conflict over Asturias and after the military occupation of two Carthaginian islands in the Mediterranean. A related conflict with the Swiss has been defused thanks to the intervention of Balkan diplomats and Shuddering Coalition and Prague posturing.


As 2101 AD dawns, we are forced to contend with the possibility that the 22nd century will look much like the 19th, with great powers vying for wealth, power, and influence across the world. If the world is not careful, it can find itself sleepwalking to another doomsday.

TENSIONS FLARE IN SOUTHWEST UGANDA OF THE PRINCEDOM OF VICTORIA. Mengo, Princedom of Victoria. The Princedom of Victoria is a constitutional monarchy comprising several Antecataclysm countries. A legally powerful monarch rules checked by a bicameral bicameral parliament similar to the antecataclysm United Kingdom. Beneath the central government are a number of legally recognized kingdoms. Two of these kingdoms, Buganda and Ankole, have been in sharp political and economic conflict. To the west of Ankole is the New Kongo, the Union of Communist African Republics. New Kongo, a scientific powerhouse in Africa, is loose enough with its technology that Ankole has benefited from the tech diffusion. Control of this technology has granted Ankole greater power and influence in this part of Victoria over the traditionally hegemonic Bugandan kingdom.

The fiery rhetoric in parliament by MPs of these kingdoms has only grown hotter these last few months. It is too soon to claim these kingdoms will come to blows, but unless the the balance of power and issue of technology is resolved in parliament soon, the tensions will only escalate.

Princedom of Victoria: We will attempt to resolve this conflict in parliament by testing our untested system of checks and balances [Invoke] without confronting the immediate issue of tech diffusion. In 1912, the Chinese revolution began. The heroes of Xinhai cast aside the shackles of the old order and ended two millennia of the pathetic rule of kings and queens. In the centuries since, the Chinese revolution continued in the inexorable direction of progress, technology, and innovation. The modern regime of the Renmin Gongheguo was elemental in making China's material prosperity the foremost of the Earth, and the revolutionary heroes of the Kuomintang were elemental in destroying the invading forces of the feudalistic Empire of Japan.

It is this enemy of China that has now three times sought to impress upon the Chinese nation its ambition of conquest, and twice now sought to bury its revolution under rubble. Now that the foreign wastrels of the New York Empire have been expelled, Japan has recapitulated in the same hideous form it adopted before it was tamed by the armies of the old United Nations. Worse yet it has laid claim to Chinese territory and subjected its people to slavery in service of a deifed king, in the same manner as the old Japanese Emperor and the old Empire's so-called "holy war" of pillage, rape, and conquest against the Asian continent.

They call themselves Tianguo (Heavenly Kingdom), but make no mistake. This is another war by the nation of Japan against the sovereign people of China, struggling still to maintain their independence and continue their collective labor towards a classless society of peace, progress, and prosperity.

We of the Zhongguo Junzheng Gongheguo have long worked to recollect the strength of China and match it with the wisdom of our revolutionary philosophy. The nation of China is a nation of revolution. It has taken us years to correct the damage done by the IUN and there is no way now we will allow China to slip back into the Dark Ages.

We declare sovereignty and right of rule over all of the mainland territories of China and the island of Taiwan. We furthermore deny the right of the Japanese nation to imperial control over Korea, and the government of the Tianguo our mortal enemy. We will not rest until China is free, Korea is free, and the ability of the government of Nagasaki to wage war is forever and interminably destroyed.

Action: 2101 Secretary General Elections (Political, Create Advantage): Elections for the position of Secretary General are underway. While elections can be divisive for many nations, the current Secretary General Diane Moore is very popular and is poised to be reelected for her second and final term. This election could provide some much needed morale for the IUN and International Unificationism as a whole.

A widespread claim among those in the militia movement is that only three percent of the population of Revolutionary America fought against the British during the war for independence. While this claim has been debunked numerous times by historians, it is the single founding credence of the loosely affiliated states known together as the American Redoubt. Through it they position themselves as revolutionaries fighting against tyranny, hearkening back to the founding days of the American republic. Not only that, but it glorifies active duty in defense of the American nation and places special emphasis on those who take the initiative to defend the ideals of it without state authority mandating it.

It is no surprise then, that one finds out that militias of all types have sprouted like weeds in the Redoubt. Of the Redoubt's roughly 3 million people, almost two hundred thousand are affiliated in some way with these paramilitary groups. Larger than any standing army present in the Redoubt, these groups take on the duties of assisting law enforcement, patrolling the border, serving as bodyguards, and above all else training for the day that duty calls upon them to defend the Redoubt from all those who oppose it. Sometimes they even go beyond those stated duties, serving as a parallel authority to existing legal structures. They become judge, jury, and even at times, executioner.

It is not uncommon for a local militia captain to round up immigrants, both legal and undocumented, into trucks and dump them across the border in the depopulated Frontier or chaotic El Norte. It is not uncommon for armed militiamen to guard local politicians against so-called violent counter protesters, often resulting with blood on the streets. It is not uncommon for armed "vigilantes" to barge into the homes of those accused of corruption and hold a tribunal for them before the mob of people outside. It's not uncommon for entire militias to declare a state government disloyal to the founding ideals of the Redoubt and escort them out of office so new elections can be held.

The American Redoubt is a military stratocracy masquerading as a legitimate small-government democracy. It has more in the common with the rise of militant nationalism seen in the early part of the last century than it does the ideals of the American Revolution. Or rather, it serves as a perverted union of the two, where basic human rights are reserved for those of in the militias' good graces and the rest of the population is left hiding from the watchful eyes of their fellow citizens turned protectors. If democracy is to survive in the former Northwest of the United States, the militias must be defanged and hunted down. But before that can begin, the world most know of the horror that is the American Redoubt.
