While the NPCs don't really have any diplomacy, allow me to speak for Venice when I say that they'll happily accept your guarantee.

GM Announcement:

For the most part, NPCs will accept any one-way deal that benefits them. I don't think I'll develop the NPCs too much, however, diplomatically. Mostly I just "program" them to go after certain areas(NCSA wants Caribbean territories; Venice Eastern Mediterranean; Caliphate Islamic territories, etc.), so that's pretty much all there is.
