Near the Italian city of Florence was the military base Camp Bonaparte. Inside its main war room the Grand Marshal of the S.U.D.S was at meeting with fellow S.U.D.S military leaders on the matter of the war against Austria. First though they were talking about a crisis at the Suez Canal that the S.U.D.S was hoping to gain access to now that both sides of the canal were becoming S.U.D.S members.
“I told the Grand Senate we should not trust the Raiju” went General Isaac Cantu, who was preparing to serve the S.U.D.S's war against the imperial rulers of Austria in his speciality in rocket artillery. “Now at the moment of our diversion the militarists have decided to send troops in one of our beloved states as possible conquerors!”
“Sinai... they choose to claim Sinai” went General Evita Robles. “We have Sinai as a member! It was becoming a member! How could this happen? Why did they choose to take on us when we are engaging in a moral war against the imperialists in Austria?”
“The situation requires us... to respond to the Raiju” went Marshal Ester Ubina. “Our feeds from the C.E.M.C.O.S will provide us better observation of the saturation... if we could afford to cease its observations of the Austrian conflict. Thankfully we have the option of dispatching some of our troops on route through the Indian Ocean to... take “rest” at the canal.”
“This speaks on conflict that we should avoid” went Admiral Chus Moreno. “Our fleet operations against Austria were lucky for our experience in Austrian shores via our... almost moment of conflict eruption. Since we need to focus on dealing with one war at a time in order to allow... maximum efficiency... I suggest that we consider allowing the Raiju control of Sinai...”
“Allowing the Raiju one of our members! Are you crazy?!” These were the words of General Gisbert Seelenfreund. “We should not reward the imperial actions committed at Sinai!”
“The oil spill... we need to investigate that. It was the trigger. It was... the generator of this action from Lord Raiju.” These words came from General Agung Soun. “We need not a brutal response to the Raiju but a guerrilla one. I say we set the Shadow Guild to investigate the occurrences... and set some of our red commandos behind Raiju lines in Sinai.”
“That might be a tactical observation to take” went Grand Marshal Jack O’Brian. “It is likely the S.U.D.S will not cease the claimant operations in Sinai. The Raiju are likely to not cease their claimant operations in Sinai. We both are eying the Suez Canal. Let we are not eager for drawing blood from each other... well maybe baring the radical figures in this room but we need to set the Suez in a way that will also us to focus on Austria without losing one of our new members.”
“We will dispatch two jet fighter squads to patrol the air over Sinai as a means of ensuring security” went the General of the Air Force, Gal Siskind. “It we can demonstrate our commitment to Sinai... we could demonstrate our commitment to global liberty.”
“In that case we will give a response” went the Grand Marshal. “Set around small specialist squads to be deployed along the Suez Canal and in Sinai. This will take some resources (10 RP in total) from the front line but we need to aid defence to our comrades. Set up lines, the boundaries but do not... I repeat: do not... fire the first shot. If conflict to breed from this matter then the S.U.D.S must not be a aggressor. The Raiju have demonstrated aggression. Let’s give them a chance to atone themselves. Secure the province and ensure it is guarded. General Soun I trust you to commence the operations on this matter. Remember: no shooting!”
“Roger” went Soun.
“We will need a few destroyers to be dispatch to guard the Suez Canal and maybe a gun boat” continued the Grand Marshal. “Well what ever the case... this should give a message that no one messes with the S.U.D.S!”
“Sirs” went a young communication officer at a terminal, observing the Austrian front. “General Hardy has requested reinforcements to deal with a hard line of Austiran forces.”
“Well I guess while Soun deals with Sinai, we will deal with Europe” went O’Brian. “We must conduct our military plans... with less speed, more haste.”

The S.U.D.S has made a nasty discovery of a plot by the Austrian Stalinists:
This demonstrates that the S.U.D.S is in a war against evil! First the imperials commit genocide against S.U.D.S citizens, and then it burns the fields of its own people and poisons their own water. Now they plot to destroy their own settlements!
In light of his the Grand Premier of the S.U.D.S has urged that we need all to meet up to create the Council of Gaia as a means to stop these types of actions. We also need to prepare for a refugee crisis: all those Austrians are going to be without home thanks to the Stalinists.

The forces that were drilling with the Raiju were on route to the front line. Although talks of the new found tentions with the Raiju were present, the main focus was on the Austrian conflict naturally. Tanks went through beautiful countryside as they went through the roads, on their way to a dark conflict in the beautiful lands of Austria. First they will pass through the inches of Italy, and then they will go to Austria. Some divisions have been set to use the open border pact with the Downfall Gang to enter Austria from their lands. Jets guarding tactical bombers flew over the convoys of S.U.D.S forces on their way to their mission. Those on the cost will hear the distant cannon fire of S.U.D.S ships, aiming for the costal military structures of the Austrians. Talk about the “ion tank” in Greenland echoed in many divisions, some hoping that the next rounds of attack will be aided by their presence, others joking of how Kwan could have developed his mad new weapon. However this talk was overshadowed by the horror stories of the Stalinist tactics used by the S.U.D.S’s current war foe. Farms burned to stop S.U.D.S using them for supplies had meant that the local population struggled to feed themselves. Horror came on talk of the poisoning of water. Thankfully they also hoped Operation Wine Mail would counter this. In fact many of the convoy trucks of food and water supplies would be linked behind S.U.D.S forces as a means to keep them out of fire and to ensure those forces (and the local populations) are not on hungry stomachs nor are suffering from thirst. They went on their way to join the front line in facing the Austrian imperials and to ensure the protection of the local population from said imperials.

The collum of Tanks was camped near the city of Eisenstadt. Up until now they had encountered only impovereshed countrieside. Farmland with very few people farming it. The Austrian draft ment that every man who was of any reasonable age to do anything (12-60) was in the army. As a result the women had to produce enough food to feed themselves and everyone else. This destructive draft had also destroyed families and prevented the creation of new ones. As a result the countrieside was a mess. Nontheless, despite this nations overspending on military, they had encountered surprisingly little resistance so far. A bunker here, an infantry division there, nothing they could not clear in days. To little. Had this nations entire army starved to death? No. Yet for a nation waging total war, crossing the border had been remarkably easy...
Vitaliy's thoughts were interupted by an artillery shell exploding just meters from his tank. This city had been a nightmare to take. Compared to the smooth march through impoverished farmland, this place was fighting to the teeth. The plan to win cities quickly was to establish air domminance and destroy the barraks in the center. The first part was easy. Austria had little in the way of an air force. However, the sheer number of anti-aicraft guns made up for that. It seemed as if their was one on every rooftop, and the fac was, those roofs that didn't have an AA gun had artillery. But after days of fighting, it seemed that they would finally win. The giant garrison of the city was running out of food. The AA guns were running out of ammunition.
This was the goal. The general had found a new way of fighting these walled strongpoints. Pretending to attack, by driving in just close enough that we could shell the defenses with bad aim, but not close enough that they could reliably hit the battery. We were told not to aim toward the city, so as to not hit civilians but aim at the bunkers and trenches to the side of our field of view, thus hopefully not hitting the actul buildings. Now the sige was over. Or so we thought. The general in the city though had no choice but to fight on. If he stopped, the government had set up explosive bombs under parts of the city, that would kill many of his men. Surrender was more dangerous than fighting to the last man. That is how the Austrian government planned to win this war. By forcing every man to fight to the end at gunpoint.

The generals were gathered in their field command center, a large truck with an artillery piece mounted on top. They all understood, taking the city as it is would not be possible. If they entered, it would explode under their feet. Something had to be donee about the bombs, and fast. If the city ran out of food, it would be detonated. The decision was made. Russian troops will take their supply train, dress up as Austrian forces and pretend to run the blockade. The Russian artillery will be instructed to fire behind the trucks. When the trucks reach the gate, they will give fake Austrian identification papers from POWs obtained in the "walk through the countrieside. Once inside they will dissarm the explosives. If the city does not surrender as soon as it can, it will surrender in a weak once the supplied food runs out. Vitaliy was chosen to lead the operation since he spoke fluent Austrian. The plan was codenamed operation Helen, after the figure in the mythical account of the Trojan War (due to the similarity between this plan and the Trojan horse).

The entry into the city went surprisingly well. The starving guards opened the gates at the first sign of food. The only person who asked for their papers was some leutenant who only briefly looked them over. The soldiers were so low on supplies that the food which was ment to last a weak was soon all distributed. Under this background the convoy could move freely around the city. The guards were to distracted by their first good meal in days to stop them from disarming the bombs. The pilots were not exagerating when they said their was an AA gun on every roof. No wonder we were unable to bomb the central barraks, despite the total lack of Austrian aircraft. The streets were lined with artillery. Civilian homes were filled with ammunition booxes, many of them now empty after a month of fighting. Scrap mettal was hordedby the army. Even weading rings were sent to the factories to be remade into ammunition. This was total war and Stalinism tooken to the max.

Only later, did civillians begin to tell the stories of life in the city under the Austrian reigeme. One man desciribed how the army took his French wife to a camp in Southern Italy. One woman described how her husband was drafted into the army, despite their families strong religious belife in non-violence. The horror stories continued. These would later be compiled into a documentary, depicting how Austria slowly changed from an Anarchist but livable state to a militarist stalinist dictatorship. For now the Russian army continued, deeper into Austria, toward their next objective. They did not know what frightening surprises awaited them in this militarist state. They did not know how important their quick victory here would turn out to be.

Ayane enters into the secret laboratories on Nova Terra. Passing through several checkpoints and security clearances. Even with a facility that several parsecs away from Earth, it was safer to be safe than sorry. Ayane then finally reaches to the R&D labs.
"Well" Ayane said sharply "What is it that you wanted to show me?"
The head scientists Bevel Lemelisk and General Rom Mohc aproached the director of Republic Intelligence, Ayane. Lemelisk spoke first "I am sure you are well aware of S.U.D.S. latest design, weaponizing ions."
Ayane leaned backwards with her arms folded "Yeah, I've watched Head 2 Head with Dr. Charles Kwan."
"Given their latest development of ion canons and the tensions between the communists and the Republic. I felt it's prudent that our shield systems are much more powerful to repel such an attack." Lemelisk then puts his hand on his chin "Should S.U.D.S. ever come into conflict with us."
Ayane places both of her hands on her hips "and would this also be applied to personal shielding?"
Lemelisk nodded "Of course, but with extra precaution. Especially with S.U.D.S. stealing our stuff. Should anyone try to reverse engineer this device, it will self-destruct to make it unusable and make it indistinguishable to be a valuable piece of technology."
"Good" said Ayane "This is something we should have done beforehand." Ayane looks at the next generation of ship power plants "And what about those? Are they superior to the ones we gave SUDS?"
"Of course, much superior in design and contains an anti-reverse engineering device inside it. The same is applied to our Foofighters."
Ayane takes a drink of her soda, then places it down on the table "Good, I don't want to see a technical gap occurring." she then looks sharply at the map of Europe "Already they have plans to steal our foofighters designs" then turns back to Lemelisk "I refuse to let these commies steal our stuff. There era of 'barrowing' will soon come to an end."
Mohc then interjects his view "It's typical that the communists, or whatever they call themselves, want to undermine us Ms. Ayane. They want to shake the status quo. We tried to place in licenses on such things and they still rant at us being space colonists and imperialists. The only solution I see is installing these anti-reverse engineering methods onto our own military technologies. A sort of Fabrication Rights Management on our end."
Ayane takes a drink from her soda, then places it down on the table "Sometimes, I wish S.U.D.S. would just leave the Republic alone for once instead of trying to position itself as a rival to us." she then looks towards the video screens "Hanna has already poised herself to be the friendly face of the Republic, but it does not mean we should let our guard down. I know their true feelings about us, there's no doubt that our expansion into the Koreas would be a justification for their global revolution." she then looks to Mohc "I won't be surprised if the whole powder keg blows, that the Republic declares Earth a quarantine zone, even establishing a permanent orbital fleet." She then goes back to the map "Even the Rajius are keeping their distance from S.U.D.S. after the incident with the borders in the Suez region. Fortunately, they've joined PEACE."

The LWS-2 "Igel" was a compact vehicle that at first glance could easily be mistaken for a light tank. It was not much to look at; its dwarfish and fairly simple chassis lacked the imposing presence of the new Leopard 4, and even next to the staple Leopard 3 it seemed a little out of place. Until one examined the warning markers painted on the hull, noticed the unusual design of its forward gun, one could be forgiven for not realizing the Igel was one of the Downfall Gang's most bleeding-edge military innovations.
Although it resembled a tank, it was technically a support weapon, packing the power of strategic artillery into a gun with rifle accuracy. Speedy and lightly-armoured, it was unfit for direct combat, but could outrun most other vehicles in its weight class, and its deceptively long range meant it could strike from behind the protection of the Leopards. And once the Austrians learned its ordnance, no doubt it would become a priority target on the battlefield.
The Igel was equipped with an experimental and versatile chemical beam, sometimes erroneously called a "chemical laser", designed to cut a fight short by using radiative energy to detonate an opposing tank's fuel and/or ammunition stores. A single short burst was also enough to kill unprotected soldiers, although the energy dissipated quickly enough that ongoing contamination was not a concern. Naturally, however, the volatility of the weapon's fuel meant that a hull breach could have devastating and explosive consequences, as controlled tests had revealed.
Hitler's order to push the Igel into service in Austria was thus met with some trepidation. Field tests were one thing; open combat something entirely different. But with the offensive in danger of stalling, and the fate of S.U.D.S. citizens still unresolved, the new weapon might be able to carry the Wehrmacht through to a rapid victory as in Spain. Production had only started and a mere 20 units were fit for combat, but even that was more than enough: experience suggested Autria's "Gundams" were either a ruse, or a critical misapplication of resources; most of the army's equipment was antiquated even by early 21st Century standards. And as the world once again converged on the international pariah, the question was once again not if victory would be achieved, but with how much land each player would leave the battlefield.

The Brotherhood orders the use of all RP and all moves to push through Austria; this exhausts Austria's RP reserves entirely. 41 moves, armed with 168 RP, move in to take over all of Austria. Granted open borders by the Raiju and SUDS, they can strike anywhere without fear of amphibious penalty. The defensive bonus of +1 is added this time by default.
21 RP remain after Austria is decisively crushed and occupied by the Brotherhood.
SUDS troops arrive to find ... that Austria has already been destroyed.
The sun sets on the Austrian Empire. While the Downfall Gang/ESACM didn't exactly get the victory they hoped, they did get themselves a fair share of land, reclaimed Austria proper, and helped promote the cause of human rights and world peace around the world. Russia and the Brotherhood have flexed their muscles, for better or worse, and now have more of a voice on the international stage. SUDS has failed to acquire any territory itself, but now has a large bank of RP and an army that is not weary of war...

The Raiju are pleased to announce that Hector Lyon has remained one of the most senior Raiju commanders in the years since his arrival. He has overcome skepticism and in some cases, discrimination, and is one of the few to be given the name "Raiju In Spirit" (RIS), a term for those of non-Raiju lineage who prove examplary and are formally inducted into the tribe. This is the opposite of "Raiju In Name Only" (RINO) - a term reserved for weaklings, dishonorable persons and cowards born into Raiju society.
It is also a testament to the Lord Raiju's cultural innovation of replacing the old system of promotion with the new. In the old, one had to defeat one's Commander to take their position. In the new, one must defeat the Lord Raiju himself if they seek to replace one of his appointees; the logic is that a challenge against an appointee is inherently a challenge against the Lord's right to rule. This new ideology has gone a great way to keep Raiju society stable, and has also enhanced the Lord's personal leisure pursuits.
More advanced units of technology are reported to be proliferating across the Imperium. Televisions, radios, computers, and various other forms of data storage are spreading like wildfire, particularly among those in higher ranks. The Lord has conceded that these are a necessity to keep the Raiju society strong, lest it fall hopelessly behind in technological pursuits. State regulation has been immense, with a new bureaucracy made to keep unworthy programs off the air; everything is required to be educational or informative. Accordingly, most foreign news reporting stations have been banned.
As the SUDS and Raiju Academies open within eachother's nations despite tensions, it was only natural some cultural and technological exchanges would occur. Most shockingly(no pun intended), the influx of electronic devices has seen the power industries groan with pains as they try to keep up with the demand. While there has been talk of the Raiju's Source being used to alleviate the demand, due to its reported properties, the Lord has denied access to anyone but himself; the risk of another state researching and acquiring the Source's power is not worth the benefits of more power. Accordingly, more coal, oil, and the like are being burned. Renewable energies are being considered to keep Raiju from becoming weakened by the toxic fumes of fossil fuels.
The Lord Raiju is scheduled to attend the opening of the Triforce Facility. The Sinai Peninsula seems to remain under joint rule, with neither side being bold enough to open fire on the other. With neither side willing to back down, nor either side willing to engage, the dispute is expected to last into perpetuity. The Lord has not announced any intent to discuss the matter during his visit, though it is not known precisely what shall transpire.
