As the United Emirates would like to avoid the Rhodesian Civil War becoming the new Vietnam Emir Ibn Farouk has proposed a Peace Talks Summit at Casablanca. The African Union was proposed by Rhodesia in order to prevent the continent from repeating its troubled past. In Vietnam we proved our unity in foreign affairs, now we must prove our ability to take care of our own house.

OOC: I guess the peace talks will be held in the Rhodesian Civil War thread at the AU SG.

IC: Also Emir Ibn Farouk is removing class A support from the Vietnam mission. Now that the vast majority of the warlords have been pacified it is time for the UN to begin a transfer to a more stable Vietnamese government.

NATIONAL TELEVISION OF INDONESIA
"Bringing to Indonesia - The World."

The First of numerous Twenty-Year long projects starts today
This morning President Dearale and General Secretary Cecilia, also accompanied by numerous members of the party; observes as the first bricks are laid down in what will be an apartment project, which is a single part of many numerous other projects being built throughout the nation.

Cecilia: “This is a great start for the KNPP. We genuinely hope that these projects will go accordingly to plan and schedule, and most important of all, it shall hopefully progresses our nation, and will benefit the people of Indonesia.”

The Apartment construction projects are a part of the Residential Development Program issued by the KNPP to improve the living quality of the people. In other parts of the nations, other projects such as industrial constructions and road rehabilitations are also being conducted. While more projects are planned to start within few more years.

The vital parts of the twenty year projects should all start before 2107 and be finished by 2110 if everything goes according to plan. Meanwhile, another project, namely the construction of a geothermal plant in Kaliurang will be started in the end of the year, after surveys are complete.

Our most honorable President, Mrs.Dearale makes a short speech shortly after ceremonially laid the first brick of an apartment building in an apartment complex in Surabaya.

Dearale: "Families are the very basic foundation of society. So a proper housing for all families in Indonesia is our top priority. No longer shall a Father, a Mother, a Son, and Daughter, Sisters and Brothers, wander aimlessly without a proper place they can call home. In a short time, all the people of Indonesia shall feel secure after a long day of work, knowing that there shall always be a safe and comfortable place for them to go 'home'. "

After the ceremony, the President and the rest of the staff traveled few kilometers away to witness the process of road rehabilitation that also occurs in many other corners of the country.

Universities and Research Institutes brainstorms Algae Fuel technology
Research Institutes and Universities around Indonesia is begins their research to develop an Algae fuel technology. The development of this biofuel is outlined by the KNPP as an important step to revive the economy after the depletion of oil worldwide. A total of four Universities/Institutes in participating in the development of this technology, namely IPB (Institut Pertanian Bogor), UI (Universitas Indonesia), ITB (Institut Teknologi Bandung), and ITS (Institut Teknologi Surabaya). UI,ITB, and ITS will focus on the technical and engineering aspects of the program, while IPB will develop a state-of-the-art technology of effective algae breeding and farming system.

For Indonesia, this is a relatively new technology,
and when asked about his comments regarding the challenges that Indonesia will face in creating this advanced technology, ITB researcher Mr.Pratama responded:

Pratama: "..The Algae Fuel technology has been developed throughout the early 21st Century, but the process were inefficient and a cheap mass produced Algae fuel substance were unable to be created, so that people prefer to rely on the traditional earth-based oil as algae fuel is still to infant to compete. Not to mention, the Oil Companies of the 21st century also hinders the development of this technology, as it will reduce their control over world energy. So it means we do not need to start from scratch. "

Reporter: "..It is great to hear that... so, as we already have most of the knowledge and blueprint of the technology, how long would you think until we finally achieve this new technology ?"

Pratama: "We already have this technology, so it means we are already able to convert algae into oil, but we still lack the capability to mass produce them efficiently... and that is what we are currently trying to achieve. When you ask 'when' will this be achieved, the KNPP schedule speculates it would be possible within 10 years. But I am positive we can be faster than that.... say...between 5 to 7 years.
The time consuming part would probably be the implementation. Because the government currently have plans to develop geothermal, wind turbines, and solar generators as their priority."

Reporter: "6 to 7 years still sounds quite long....Not to mention you say it would take longer because of the implementation problems. But is the need for this 'new oil' pressing ?"

Pratama: "Yes...Oil have been the source of development and growth since the as early as the 19th century. Without it our plans to restore Indonesia at least to it's pre-conflict situation is hard. Right now oil based machinery lay unused around the streets and yards, and we use the more ineffective Coal instead. If we are able to successfully implement this new effective mass produced algae fuels, we can reuse the old machines and progress more quickly. The quicker this technology is achievable the better. "

Reporter: "Understood. And how about the other nations? have they developed similar programs? and is the government willing to cooperate with other nations on these ambitious developments?"

Pratama: "Other nations are currently developing new sources of energy to complement oil. There are those who develop solar panels, and also geothermal plants, but so far, I think we are one of the first to publicly announce the development of algae fuels. But I think other nations would start similar programs, considering that Algae is abundant around the world and the technology is mostly present. Regarding cooperation with other nations, I believe it is necessary for Indonesia to cooperate with other nations in order to achieve our goals faster. Particularly with our closer neighbors such as Malacca."

Although Indonesia is still relatively small compared to other nations, it's plans for an energy source development are one of the largest and most ambitious. Ranging from the the establishment of wind turbines along the Indian Ocean coast until the development of the brand new Algae Energy. This is a part of the government's plan for Indonesia to be a leading nation in terms of energy production.

Population growth in Indonesia is also a factor that pushes the government to take this initiative, as experts speculate that the considerably low destruction caused by the previous world wars and Java's arable lands will guarantee fast population growth.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs.Svetta, announces Indonesia's Foreign Policy for the upcoming years.
Last Night, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Svetta announces Indonesia's foreign policy that has been talked about intensively in the national parliament and board of ministries for the past 3 months. The policies will determine Indonesia's stance and relations towards the world and other sovereign nations for the upcoming years.

Svetta: "...after numerous intensive meetings and consultations by the executive and legislative branches of the state, and also the board of ministries. The government have reached a conclusion that results in the basic lines of our nation's foreign policy for the next 5 years."

The points that are announced by Mrs.Svetta includes general-worldwide foreign policies as well as more specific ones that points at a certain global political issue such as the conflict in Thessaloniki, Vietnam, and New Rhodesia.

The general points basically stated that Indonesia shall not engage in peacekeeping operations and military interventions and any other activity that would require Indonesian direct interference by military means. Indonesia also shall not partake in military alliances that would drag the nation to an unwanted conflict around the globe and instead commit themselves to regional non-aggression pacts and economic cooperation in around the Asia-Pacific region.

When it comes to the issue of rising conflicts in Vietnam, New Rhodesia, and Thessaloniki. Indonesia will take part as a counseling nation that would willingly volunteer to broker peace, if the belligerent nations decide to engage diplomatic talks.

Svetta: "...Regarding the issue of Vietnam. We call all participants of the war to disengage their weapons and bring themselves to the diplomatic table, as we have known that the conflict is out of hand and have brought us to several points of direct conflicts between other nations. While Indonesia agrees that Vietnamese warlords must be brought to the light of justice, we disagree that the current way participating nations are doing it are right. We plea that all current participating nations would consult through the UN and create a common plan to handle the current conflict in Vietnam, that can be accepted by all."

Journalist: "Mrs.Svetta, we are currently also seeing a development of conflict in Rhodesia. But as the situation haven't take a terrible turn like Vietnam, what do you think Indonesia, and in general, other nations, should do to react ?"

Svetta: "Overreaction has been the cause of the horrible escalation of what should be a minor conflict in Vietnam. It is better that if nations have a plan on taking their hands on New Rhodesia, they would do it first tough legitimate counseling of the United Nations. Having an organized general plan that all nations can accept will save time and prevent such conflict to unnecessarily escalate."

Journalist: "But how about the recent Thessaloniki independence? The situation is different compared to the one we have in Rhodesia and Vietnam. What is Indonesia's stance on that?"

Svetta: "The conflict of Thessaloniki is far more complicated as it may involve two regional powers. Currently the Platonic Republic were unwilling to let what they consider a part of their legitimate territory go away and plans to send troopers to take control of the situation, and the Roman Empire also pleas to intervene if the Platonic Republic is unable to handle things in a way they want. This situation have a CLEAR potential to cause war between the two nations, and situation could be more horrible than what we see in Vietnam. We advise that the Platonic Republic do not react to fast without properly observing the situation. So as the Romans. The Thessaloniki claimed that their reason of independence were due to the unfair treatment by the Platonic Republic. While the Platonic Republic states that their independence was but from actions by agents or mobsters that ignites unnecessary problem. Looking at the situation, Indonesia feels it is best for a 3rd Party to come and take a better look at the situation, and if necessary, conduct a referendum in Thessaloniki to know whether Thessaloniki want's an independence from Greece or not. It would determine whether Thessaloniki is legitimately independent or not, by International Laws."

Jerusalem announces national railway project

The Ministry of Transportation announced earlier today that it has approved preliminary plans for a national railway. In addition to revitalizing existing lines, the project will link networks in Egypt, Palestine and Syria, enabling uninterrupted passenger and freight service from Matruh to Aleppo at a distance of over 1200 kilometres.

Cost estimates for the project are currently unsettled, as route surveys through Lebanon have yet to be completed. The ministry stated that the project is an integral component of the Republic's strategy for a post-oil economy, providing a fuel-efficient alternative to air commute and road shipping. Construction of the main route is expected to take approximately six years, with later extensions incorporated as control of periphery regions is stabilized.

Parliament approves additional troops to Vietnam

With the Rhodesian civil war leaving the commitment of its contingent to UNVIFOR uncertain and the United Emirates announcing it will no longer participate in combat operations, Jerusalem has passed a motion authorizing the deployment of additional forces to Zone A on the advice of mission commander LGen Ahmad al-Karimi. The unit, comprising elements of 2nd Army 3rd Corps, will assist the Roman, Irish and Indo-Persian contingent in securing the final region held by the warlords and policing the current UN-held area.

Our Troops Continue to Come Home from the Far East

Boats containing members of the Protective Caste are on their way from the Japanese prison camps in China, as part of the peace agreement settled between both the Japanese and the Platonic Republic. General Toto, having returned from Vietnam after leaving due the Platonic withdrawal from the UN peacekeeping mission, stated that "the bravery of our warriors met the bravery of the Japanese and as such we admit in our defeat that we will learn from the experience, especially considering the... errors in tactics we had over transporting." This with Japanese refusal of a offer by the Platonic Republic to pay a gold tribute in the Platonic acknowledgement of defeat, it what could only be described as a humble act of justice. This marks the official end of Platonic present activities within Vietnam, which has found itself centre of the world stage over the controversial cold confrontation between Japan and the United Arab Republic leaded United Nations Vietnam Intervention Force, the later which saw the Platonic Republic over the Hanoi incident.

"Thessaloniki will be Freed from Anarchy" declares General Toto

In a press conference in the early hours this morning General Xylon Toto announce that he had accepted fully the responsibility to lead the Platonic’s Protective Caste’s operation to enshrine the city of Thessaloniki into the Platonic Republic, as it rightfully belongs to, with the commission to deal what Toto referred to as “the anarchist threat which is attempting to manipulate the populace into a self-destructive path of chaos.” Toto declared that “Thessaloniki will be freed from anarchy, less I am unworthy of being among the Protective Caste! I am eager to ensure with courage and determination to remove the infestation of terrorism that dares threaten the Platonic Republic with its lies of chaos. We must protect the citizens of Thessaloniki from the criminals who pretend to govern an “independent” state.” This came over objection to a Indonesian plan for a referendum, with Toto expressing his views on the matter by stating “democracy is the worst form of movement. Period. It is better to suffer under a bad tyrant than a bad democracy, for at least you can blame one figure for the problems. Any rate it is best for the wisest to govern, not the more popular, just as it is best for the brave to the join the military than allowing cowards to hinder the arm forces.” This came as initial “caste revaluations” were scrapped for “economic reasoning” and due to the “current effectiveness of the formal review.” Moment after official demand for the terrorist occupiers of our city of Thessaloniki has been sent, demanding the criminals who dare misdirect Thessaloniki into chaos to surrender to the just order of the Platonic Republic and be allowed, as an unjust minority of the Thessaloniki populace, to be exiled from the Platonic Republic as an act of mercy. Failure to surrender will result in the judicial removal of the terror threat, with any captured terror leaders likely to face charges of “Treason against the Republic.” Our Platonic Republic cannot be denied an important city of the Greek peoples, nor allow the selfless act by the Romans get ruined by a small group of thuggish villains who care not for the people but their own selfish, evil ways against the good and just Platonic Republic.

The Philosopher Council seeks to Cool Relations with the United Arab Republic

In light of current heated anguish with the United Arab Republic our great Takis Papadakis, in light of the recent debate between Yergos Verge of the Philosopher Council and Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf of the United Arab Republic in Victor Miles’s “So what is your view on the matter?,” have declared that the Governing Caste desire to mend wounded relations with our Arabian friends. The Philosopher Council, according to Papadakis, is “eager to see relations improved, for the gulf to not divide us for we may set a railway over it to keep us together.” The UAR has been known to criticised our… response in the Vietnamese crisis and have (dared) criticised (most naively) our response to the terrorist occupation of Thessaloniki. Still, as Yergos Verge commented after returning from Jerusalem, “we cannot forsake the Arabs. They are needed to be our friends, else our just position will be place under pressure. We must show that justice is our will and that we must demonstrate a willingness to be in league with the just nation of the United Arab Republic. We cannot let any gulf, no matter how giant it might seem, divide both the United Arab Republic and its most just ally the Platonic Republic. To fail would only see us fall into the abyss the gulf lets open.” Indeed; we must not make enemies of our potential great friend, the Arabians.

Macedonian Entry into the Platonic Republic Placed on Hold

Alas due to… strategic concerns the elites in Macedonia and the Governing Caste of the Platonic Republic have agreed that it will be in Autumn, not this current summer, that intimal processions to see the home place of Alexander the Great become part of the just Platonic Republic. Although the returning of the Protective Caste members from China and the terrorist occupation Thessaloniki have contributed to the delay the main issue will lay in more to allowing for preparations for the proceedings.

Thorium: the Spark for a Economic Glory!

Our energy policy has in the past noted hydrogen but now we are to embrace Roman style Thorium power! A Roman deal has allowed a new policy that will provide many jobs for the proud members of the Productive Caste, as well as providing energy security for Greece and other parts of the Platonic Republic. This comes especially in light of the post oil age.

the Roman Empire offers to extend the Railway project, all the way from Sofia to Aleppo. it will cross the interior of Anatolia, where the Emperor wishes further developments in.

the Roman Empire would suggest the standard track gauge of 1,435 mm.

EDIT: if the Platonic Republic is willing, they can extend it so that Athens is part of it.

Combine with the Thorium deal it appears Rome and the Platonic Republic will not have to worry about unemployment with so much work be doing... plus once Macedonia becomes Platonic we could have a "Alexandrian fair" from Macedonia to Alexandria...

Now who will act as my (intelligent) foils? I'm going to miss you guys :(

well there Is a chance that I will continue, I would really have to get back into it though, so continue with my expansion anyways.

Actually, you know what? Disregard my last post, I'm staying in. Expect a serious retooling of Austria.

The Democratic Republic of Nigeria

zKXR0Zc.png

After decades of civil war, a stable nation has finally formed in the southeast of what used to be Nigeria. It seeks to extend the rule of law back into the war-torn wastes and to re-establish contact with the rest of the world. While it is in theory a representative democracy, massive power is wielded by a group of businessmen called the Team of 8, who are in control of much of the nation's media, financial institutions, and weapons-manufacturing capability. They played a large role in the formation of the country itself, having financed and supplied its armies. The nation has little social welfare, and what restrictions on the actions of corporations there are mainly serve only to keep the controlling monopolies already there in place and free from competition. The current president, Emanuel Diya, has been in office for 5 years, and is known for having formerly worked at Fidelity Bank (One of the nation's largest banks) and being very quick to arrest leaders of political opposition.
