If Maine's pristine water is too cold for you, go to the Gulf Coast. If you prefer big waves, the West Coast is the place for you. And if you want volcanic sand, Hawaii is only 7-8 hours away. And no where is there the pollution level that the Mediterranean has. (except when the Brits dump oil on our shores)

But you have possibly the worst environmental protection legislation of the western world. I'll pass thanks. I reckon that on average Switzerland has the best beaches of all western nations.

Oh, and BP's majority owned by Americans these days - your money, your fault. :p
 
alas, nothing the US has is better than the best of Australia's beaches. At Whitehaven Beach for example, the sand on that beach is pure silica (and pure white) and as such it does not get hot underfoot and can be used to polish jewelry.

Also agree with everything filli says except regarding swiss beaches of course ;)
 
Yes, our government and businesses do a very good job of sacrificing the continent we've been given.

You're right of course, Luxembourg, Andorra, Liechtenstein, San Marino and the Vatican all have the exact same quality of beaches.

I wish I could find something nice to say about British beaches other than they're better than they used to be. The only good example I can think of is Alum Bay, and that's only because of the funky geology.
 
Actually theres a reason why I disagree with you that swiss beaches. Namely because swiss beaches are rather poor.

oh and sounds similar to rainbow beach in queensland, I remember that place because when I was a little kid my parents on a holiday allowed us (unknowingly) to illegally collect sand from the place :p
 
Lawl. The Mediterranean has the best beachea in the world. The untainted coasts of Menorca and Mallorca (and I don't mean the coast of the whole island, but the truly untainted bits) are paradise, a truly heaven-on-Earth-esque landscape.

And as for the beaches, I must disagree with all of you. Mexico has the best beaches, like in Cancun, Acapulco, Huatulco, Oaxaca, and more ;)
