Impromptu CFC Meetup, Inaguration Day, Washington D.C.

This thread is to quickly organize a meetup to take advantage of the arrival of a number of CFCers to the DC area due to Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009.

I don't know that 20 Jan. will be the best day for this, so we can do the 19th or the 21st if anyone will still be in town. I live well outside the city, and am not going to the inauguration itself. I also assume the day's official events to be over by the evening, and hope so, since I work until about 4 PM, which means I can make it to a Metro station no earlier than 5:30.

To pick a random time, how about we do 8PM at Capitol City Brewing Company?

I too would think that anything inside the Beltway would be the last place I want be that day. Much more fun keeping the cactus company.

I think the 20th is not a good idea, even if it is hours after the festivities. The 19th could also be problematic, as things will start getting locked down that afternoon. Parking restrictions go into effect at 3PM on the 19th (and go through 7AM the 21st) and road closures start at 4AM on the 20th.

Earlier in the weekend may be better – Sunday or Saturday evening? This should minimize the hassle of getting downtown, but still allow the meetup to happen. For those of you avoiding the area on the 20th, does that also mean you are avoiding the area Saturday/Sunday?

Put me down as a Maybe for the meetup, depending on the exact time we decide on (if at all).
