Improve Foreign Advisor Screen...?

I would like to see the ability to display all of the civs that you are playing against within your 'contact' list under the Foreign Advisor screen at the same time.

There can be too much interaction for me to have to swap a civ over to a 'other civ ' just because of the limitations to show them all at once.

I have searched for any type of mod or solution to this, without success, has anyone seen one or is it just not possible to do that...?

You could very well be right Ville, it may well be 'hard coded' into the game :(

Thanks Gainy bo that is the same as the 'Starting Diplomacy' option but I wanted an option so that when you press F4 ALL of the civs at once are shown, that you have made contact with, so that you can see the full interactions with each of them.

I would like that display to be enhanced even further so that when, for example, you select to show 'at peace' and the blue lines display between each of the faces then a number could be shown indicating how many turns are left for it to run. The same can apply with any negotiated deal as I do find myself sometimes breaking them, without meaning to, just because I have not kept note of the number of turns left for it to run.

if you enter the foreign advisor and select the button that says details and pick one of the other civs it will show all your active trades with them and how many turns are left in that trade.

Many thanks for that I guess that I didn't word it very well what I meant.

I had meant that when you are in the FA screen then you click on 'at peace' button and the blue lines appear along with the number that I meant above each civs head of the amount of turns left of negotiated peace.
Clicking on the trade button would again put a number and lines related to that of trade and so on....

All the information is there already but not easily available when you have upto 16 civs playing.

I assume that the FA screen and its layout represents more on the original Civ 3 game rather than the possibilities of what is now able to apply in say Conquests with the extra civs.

Morgan: The 8-Civ FA screen is "hard-coded" into the game. The game was designed and coded to have 8 Civs max, just like Civ2. At the "last minute" (relatively speaking ;) ), the decision was made to allow more Civs to be played at once. Rather than push the release date off any further, they tweaked the FA screen code to allow you to see different leaders via the Shift-Right-Click method: a *workable* solution. :)

Since then, this issue has been on the low-priority back-burner, partly because to make it work best, you would have to allow 32 Civs to be seen on the screen. My understanding is that when Firaxis did some quick tests of this, the resulting graphical display was poor - you couldn't *really* glean the information you want as easily - the screen just becomes too cluttered, and the leaderheads too small.

We can hope they come up with a good solution for Civ4! :D

Many thanks for the information Padma. I sort of figured about the 'hard coded' bit. I wonder if rather than a graphical representation on the same lines as the FA screen is at present they had thought of more of a statistical one on the lines of a spreadsheet. Yet again I image there are flaws there due to the sheer amount of information needed on one screen.

Still I take your point abut a solution for it to be worthwhile it would need to support 32 civs :)
