Improved Water Yields

Improved Water Yields **Summer 2017 Update** 3

This mod is a must for people who want shine coastline cities. But I still want water tiles to have more hammers. This is the only and biggest drawback of coastal cities.

Yes I agree it need hammers. Reasonably early - with shipyard!

I've noticed a very minor issue, there's missing text when you hover the mouse over the icon in the city screen that tells you how much food you get from building an harbour on a specific tile

Is this on the Steam workshop yet? I still can't find a coastal city/water yield buffing mod that's not individual (no modpacks)

I've successfully been using lots of individual component mods up til now, and am now leaning towards using combined mod packs where possible.

In that regard, this TCS Improved Water Yields mod appears to provide some of the same improvements to water yields as the Quo's Combined Tweaks mod, but it seems to go beyond that mod with additional improvements to basic water hexes (the ones without fish, crabs, etc.). Does anyone know if it is possible to use both mods in the same game, or will that cause a conflict?

They will likely cause a conflict, though I haven't tested it myself. It might not crash, but your Harbors/water tiles are going to give weird yields, I think.

This mod has now been uploaded to the Steam Workshop and is compatible with the Summer 2017 Update.

Harbor Adjacency Bonus
+2 food per adjacent sea resource and +2 gold for adjacent City Center

Harbor Buildings
  • Lighthouse: +1 food to all sea resources
  • Shipyard: +2 production, +1 gold to coast and ocean tiles
  • Seaport: +1 food to coast and ocean tiles, +1 production to all sea resources
These changes replace all prior building yields.

Other Changes
Harbor Specialists
: provide +1 food, +1 gold, and +1 production
Naval Infrastructure and Economic Union policies increase both the Harbor food and gold adjacency bonuses by 100%
Cartography now increases Fishing Boat gold by +1 instead of +2

Compatibility
Compatible with the Summer 2017 Update
Fish Farms
is compatible with this mod. Several changes are made to Fish Farms if both mods are activated:
  • Fishing Boats no longer gain adjacency bonuses
  • The additional Harbor gold adjacency bonus is removed
  • The additional trade route gold bonus from Harbors is reduced from 2 to 1

I was going to post this in your omnibus mod, but I think here makes more sense. I've been thinking about the harbour again, and the adjacency bonuses it gives. As it stands (in your mod) a harbour is pretty good district to have, in the right place, it can be the best district in the game by a mile. But there is still too little incentive to build a city on the coast, and I think that's a shame.

Have you considered swapping the adjacency bonus to give +2 food for being next to the city centre, and +2 gold (or perhaps +1f1g) for adjacent sea resources?
That way, building a city next to the sea actually has a net benefit. +2 food from your first district is pretty good, getting that doubled with policies is awesome. A small change, but that might just be enough to get me to build a city on the coast.

Great feedback. I quite like the idea of the 2f bonus for the adjacent city center and a 1f1g bonus for adjacent resources. That should definitely encourage coastal settlements while ending up with essentially the same bonus for a well placed harbor. I'll have a chance to push the update next week.

These changes replace all prior building yields.

Do you mean all yields? I am guessing it's not all:

For Lighthouse, the following yields are removed:
But the following yields are intact:
  • +1 Food in all water tiles controlled by the city
  • +1 Housing
  • +1 Citizen slot
  • +25% combat XP for all naval units trained in this city
For Shipyard, the following yields are intact:
  • +25% combat experience for all naval units trained in this city
  • Bonus Production equal to the Adjacency bonus of this district
  • +1 Citizen slot
For Seaport, the following yields are removed:
But the following yields are intact:
  • Faster Fleet and Armada training
  • +25% combat experience for all naval units trained in this city
  • +1 Housing
  • +1 Citizen slot
Am I right?
